Chapter 212 None of Her Concern
Chapter 212 None of Her Concern
Natasha and Dorothy were waiting in the lobby for Zayn to pick them up.
Suddenly, a Bentley pulled up in front of them.
The back window rolled down, revealing Percy’s face.
“Get in the car,” Percy ordered, glancing at Natasha.
Natasha froze.
She had invited Dorothy out for lunch just to avoid Percy.
Natasha had not expected that, after managing to avoid Percy in the office, she would run straight into him at the company
entrance.
“I’ve already made plans to have lunch with my friends,” Natasha calmly rejected.
Just then, Zayn pulled up in his car.
Natasha and Dorothy walked over together and got into Zayn’s car.
Percy could only watch as Natasha got into Zayn’s car and left, his expression twisting with anger.
A heavy, uncomfortable pressure settled in his chest.
A dangerous aura rose around him, barely contained.
Natasha, Dorothy, and Zayn went to a restaurant near the office.
Zayn was especially attentive to Natasha, ordering dishes for her and serving her food, making sure she was well taken care of throughout the meal.
While Zayn was in the restroom, Dorothy nudged Natasha with her elbow.
“I think Mr. Jackson is really into you. Have you thought about giving him a shot?” Dorothy teased.
Natasha shot Dorothy a glance. “You know I’m leaving soon. I’m really not in the mood for dating right now.”
Dorothy suggested, “Mr. Jackson seems like a great guy. If you two hit it off, maybe you could just stay and not leave after
all.”
Natasha lowered her gaze.
If it were not for circumstances forcing her hand, she would not even think about leaving.
But if she stayed, she would only keep struggling to get by, trapped in the middle of the Whittier family’s chaos.
Besides, her situation with Jared was complicated and messy, and she really did not want to keep going like this.
Natasha just wanted to move to a new city, find new surroundings, and start over.
“Mr. Jackson and I just aren’t right for each other,” Natasha replied, her voice soft.
Dorothy rolled her eyes. “Come on, it’s the 21st century! You’re still hung up on that? Even if Mr. Jackson doesn’t know about your past, I’m telling you, he wouldn’t care one bit.”
Natasha’s gaze wavered. “Actually, that’s not what I’m worried about…”
Dorothy prodded, “Then what is it?”
Natasha hesitated, unable to bring herself to say it.
Her secret affair with Jared was something not even Dorothy knew about.
‘If Zayn ever found out, what would he think of me?’ she thought.
Maybe Zayn would not care about her past, but if he knew she had been Jared’s lover, that would certainly be a dealbreaker.
As long as she stayed here, she would never be able to escape that stain on her past.
No guy in his right mind could ever really accept something like that.
Seeing Natasha still not answering, Dorothy asked anxiously, “Come on, what is it? Are you really saying you don’t deserve to find love again?”
Natasha looked uncomfortable, caught in a tou

Natasha and Dorothy wisely changed the topic.
Zayn ended up paying for the meal.
Natasha felt a bit bad about it and decided she and Dorothy would return the favor next time.
After work, Natasha headed home.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she spotted a tall figure standing right at her door.
When Natasha saw who it was, she froze.
“Percy, what are you doing here?” Natasha asked, confused, as she walked over to him.
Percy’s dark gaze was impossible to read. “We need to talk,” he said.
Natasha looked surprised. “About what?”
Percy’s eyes were dark and unreadable. “You’re not seriously planning to have this conversation with me out here in the hallway, are you?”
Natasha hesitated for a moment.
In the end, she reluctantly unlocked the door and let him inside.
After all, there was more than one unit on this floor. Natasha did not want the neighbors overhearing anything between them.
This was Percy’s first time visiting the apartment Natasha moved into after their breakup.
The place felt warm and tidy.
The living room had big windows that showed off the city lights at night.
It was not big, but it had everything she could want.
“So this is the life you wanted?” Percy said, his eyes fixed on her, voice slightly hoarse.
Natasha raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, I think this life suits me just fine.”
‘The best part? Percy’s not here, Natasha thought. ‘I can do whatever I want, live life on my own terms.’
She no longer had to deal with Percy and Joelle’s drama every day.
Nor did she have to tread carefully around the Grosso and Whittier families.
In this small apartment, she could finally just be herself.
Percy stepped closer, his eyes unusually deep. “I can make this kind of life happen for you anytime you want.”
Natasha was momentarily stunned, not really sure what he meant.
“Did you really come all the way here tonight just to tell me this?” she asked.
Percy looked at her. “I won’t have anything to do with Joelle anymore.”
Natasha was completely taken aback.
For a second, she thought she must have heard Percy wrong.
“Wait, what did you just say?” Natasha blurted.
Percy locked his gaze on her.
He repeated, “From now on, Joelle and I are done. We go our separate ways.”
Natasha was utterly stunned and at a loss for words.
This time, she really did hear Percy loud and clear.
‘Percy is really breaking things off with Joelle?’ Natasha thought, stunned.
‘Joelle was his dream girl, the one he always pined for. And now he’s just letting her go, just like that?”
Natasha stared at him in disbelief. “Are you serious? Have you lost your mind?”
She remembered all too well just how crazy Percy used to be about Joelle.
She had always thought Joelle was the one woman Percy wanted more than anyone else in his life.
But now, Percy had broken up with Natasha.
Joelle and Nicolas had split up, too.
‘With such a perfect chance right in front of him, Percy is actually just walking away from it?’ Natasha thought, completely

Percy locked eyes with her. “Trust me, I’m thinking straight. I know exactly what I’m doing.”
Natasha studied him for a while, wanting to be sure he really meant it and was not just acting on impulse.
The only explanation was that Percy had changed.
Having become the heir to the Grosso family, Percy now held power and wealth and was no longer the illegitimate son people once looked down on.
Hence, his dream girl was no longer Joelle. He wanted someone who fit his new status.
Natasha could not help but feel a sense of pity for Joelle.
Now, it was not just Nicolas who no longer wanted her. Even Percy had moved on.
Natasha took a deep breath, looking completely indifferent, like it had nothing to do with her.
“This is between you and Joelle. It has nothing to do with me,” Natasha said coldly. “We’ve already broken up.”
She had no interest in whatever was happening between him and Joelle.
‘Whether Percy chose to cut ties with Joelle or marry her, it has nothing to do with me anymore, Natasha thought.
Percy could not help but frown.
He leaned in a bit closer to her.
“Are you still mad at me about what happened before?” he asked.
Natasha could not help but think, ‘Is he really that full of himself?’
She shook her head, her voice cool. “No.”
They were already over. She had stopped caring about Percy ages ago.
She had already let go of all that.
“Really?” Percy pressed, his eyes locked on her.
His gaze was deep and unwavering, searching her face for any sign of emotion.
Natasha could not be bothered with him.
She took a step back, putting some distance between them.
“We’re already over!” she reminded.
‘We’re already over, and he’s still bringing this up… Does he have nothing better to do?’ Natasha thought, rolling her eyes inwardly.
Percy felt a sudden tightness in his chest, regret flashing in his eyes.
“I’m sorry for everything that happened before,” he said.
