Jared rested his muscular arm on Natasha’s shoulder.

Natasha glanced around.

‘Luckily, Derek had cleared the place, she thought.

Taking advantage of the empty hallway, she hurriedly helped Jared into his office.

“Do you have a first aid kit in your office?” Natasha asked.

After settling Jared on the couch, she frantically searched the room.

“It’s in the drawer under that cabinet.” Jared gestured with his hand.

Natasha rushed over, pulled out the first aid kit, and started patching him up.

Jared sat there, still.

His gaze remained fixed on her.

Natasha gently dabbed the iodine swab on the cuts near his cheek and ear.

Her expression was focused and serious.

And her movements were careful and gentle.

“Your wounds are taken care of,” Natasha said.

She dropped the used iodine swab into the trash.

Natasha stood up, ready to head out..

She was in a rush to get to City Hall for the divorce.

She couldn’t delay any longer.

“You’re not going to help me with the wound on my leg?” Jared suddenly looked up at her and asked.

Natasha was caught off guard. “You have a wound on your leg?”

‘He was hit by the vase while still wearing his pants. Could the shards really have cut through?’ Natasha wondered.

Jared arched his brow. “Go ahead, take off my pants and see for yourself.”

Natasha’s eyes went wide.

She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

‘Did he just ask me to take off his pants?’ Natasha was utterly shocked.

She shot back, “Can’t you take them off yourself?”

‘It’s not like his hands are injured. Why is he asking me to do it?’ Natasha grumbled inwardly.

Jared shot her a sly look. “Is it the same if you do it for me, instead of me doing it myself?”

Natasha blinked, puzzled. “What’s the difference?”

As soon as she said that, she realized she’d walked right into his trap.

‘Jared is flirting with me, Natasha thought.

Natasha’s pretty face turned red all of a sudden.

‘What a jerk!’ she thought.

She turned to leave, but Jared grabbed her wrist, pulled her into his embrace, and made her sit on his lap. “What are you doing? Let me go,” Natasha yelled.

She struggled right away.

Jared leaned in close, his forehead pressed to hers, letting out a teasing breath that lingered between them. “So, why are you taking care of my wounds?” he asked, his voice low and flirtatious.

He couldn’t help but feel a rush of happiness that she was tending to him herself.

Jared thought, ‘Maybe this means she actually cares about me?

‘But why does she seem so indifferent?

‘She hasn’t even glanced at my face the whole time.

Jared couldn’t help but feel a flicker of doubt.

His heart was all over the place.

He realized Natasha was messing with his emotions more and more.

“You saved me just now, didn’t you?” Natasha replied instantly.

He was the one who saved her first, so of course, she should take care of his wounds.

Jared reassured her gently, “I won’t let anyone from the Zucker family step into the company again.”

He honestly hadn’t expected Muriel to show up at the office to give Natasha a hard time.

“Is Gordon awake yet?” Natasha suddenly asked, turning to look at him.

Jared let out a quiet “mm.”

“Mr. Chavez reached out to me earlier. The police have ruled it as self-defense on your part, so even if Gordon wakes up, it won’t change a thing,” he said, trying to reassure her.

Natasha nodded, but was still uneasy. “What’s up with all that dirt on Gordon that suddenly went viral online?”

Jared didn’t hide anything. “Yeah, I had my people spread it. Wanted to warn the Zucker family not to try to even think about turning things around for Gordon.”

With the Zucker family’s influence, it’d be way too easy for them to get Gordon out of the police station, twist the truth, and pin everything on Natasha.

But Jared would never let that happen.

As long as Jared was here, Gordon wasn’t getting away with anything. He’d be held accountable, no matter what.

Not even the Zucker family could save Gordon this time.

Natasha felt a wave of relief wash over her.

She knew Gordon wasn’t just some ordinary person.

The Zucker family was even harder to deal with.

If Jared hadn’t been around, things would’ve been way tougher.

Even if Gordon had tried to force himself on her, it would’ve been nearly impossible to make him pay for it.

At best, Gordon’d get taken to the station, only to be released right away.

Most likely, the whole thing would be swept under the rug.

And after that, Gordon might end up harassing and retaliating against Natasha even worse than before.

“Thank you,” Natasha said, genuinely grateful.

“Take off my pants,” Jared said, grinning at her.

“Huh?” Natasha blinked, stunned, her face turning red.

‘Just because I thanked him, does he expect me to take off his pants?’ Natasha thought, completely thrown off.

Jared smirked. “If you don’t take off my pants, how are you supposed to treat my wound?”

Natasha closed her eyes. “F… Fine…”

‘Guess this is how I repay him for standing up for me and dealing with the Zucker family, she thought.

Her hand fumbled blindly for his belt at his waist.

But with her eyes squeezed shut, Natasha had no clue where his belt even was.

Instead, her hand accidentally landed right on his firm, chiseled abs.

Something felt totally off.

Natasha’s mind blanked out for a second, and she suddenly opened her eyes.

Seeing her hand pressed against his abs, her face flushed all the way to her ears.

She instinctively tried to pull her hand back.

But Jared pinned her hand down, not letting her move away.

Jared leaned in, his voice rough and teasing right by her ear. “Did you do that on purpose?”

Natasha shook her head immediately. “I didn’t!” she protested.

‘If he hadn’t made me help him with his pants, I wouldn’t have grabbed the wrong spot, Natasha grumbled to herself.

Jared smirked. “Go on, then.”

Natasha was so dumbfounded that she felt like she had comic lines on her forehead.

‘Go on? What exactly does he want me to do? Does he seriously expect me to keep touching him? Natasha wondered, totally lost.

Natasha locked eyes with Jared’s deep gaze.

She suddenly realized she’d gotten it all wrong.

He just wanted her to help him take off his pants and treat his wound.

Not to grope his abs.

‘Oh, my! What was I even thinking?’ Natasha thought.

Natasha was beating herself up inside.

She thought, ‘How did I mess this up so badly?

‘Wait, did I actually want to touch him?

‘No, no, no.

‘That’s not what I meant at all.’

“Let me go first,” Natasha said in a low, urgent voice.

Feeling awkward, she couldn’t bring herself to meet Jared’s eyes.

Jared let her hand go.

But he was still waiting for her to help him take off his pants.

This time, Natasha made sure to keep her eyes open.

Closing her eyes was asking for trouble.

If she messed up again, she’d never be able to explain herself.

She decided to get it over with quickly.

Percy was still waiting for her at City Hall.

She needed to hurry up and get over there to get the divorce papers signed.

Natasha took a deep breath, bracing herself, and reached for his belt.

There was a sharp snap.

The belt popped open.

Natasha’s pretty face visibly blushed again.

She blushed from ear to ear as she helped him take off his pants.

After searching for a bit, she still couldn’t find any injury on his leg.

She didn’t even get a chance to question him.

“What did I do?” Jared replied, looking all innocent.

Jared swallowed, still wearing that innocent look. “Hey, I’m a normal guy. You keep staring down there. How could I not feel something?”

“When did I ever stare you down there?” Natasha instinctively protested.

She felt unfairly accused.

Jared smirked, “You didn’t just look once. You kept sneaking glances.”

Natasha was silent.

She wanted to explain. She was trying to find the wound so she could put medicine on it.

She absolutely wasn’t checking him out or anything.

Just then, her phone started ringing.

It was her husband, Percy, calling.
