Accidentally Pregnant By My Alpha Best friends (Madeline) novel Chapter 853

Byron:

"I'm not gonna be a douchebag and say, 'How dare you think that about me?'" I began, feeling terrible for her and, honestly, angry with myself.

I should have comforted her first. I should have reassured her that my feelings for her had nothing to do with Madeline.

"Because you have every right to be upset."

The moment I said that, she turned and tried to go back into the room, but I planted my hand against the door.

"But please, let me explain myself," I pleaded, slipping into the room and closing the door behind me.

She stepped back, putting some distance between us.

Once I was inside her bedroom, I walked toward her, took her hand, and guided her to sit on the bed with me.

I held her hand between both of mine, noticing how soft and gentle it felt.

"I'm not gonna lie. When I first saw you, okay, I mistook you for Madeline. The first time your tongue touched my neck, or you gripped my skin, for a moment, I confused you with her. But the second that familiarity faded, I knew you weren't Madeline. Okay, you both look the same, but I don't like you because you look like her. I like you because you're exactly the kind of woman I'm drawn to. I've never liked anyone quite like you before," I explained.

She still didn't look convinced. There was hesitation on her face, like she wasn't sure she could fully trust me.

"Listen to me, Rosetta. Don't punish me for the fact that your face is familiar to me because of Madeline," I said, gently squeezing her hand. "It was just my luck that I met Madeline first. But in such a short time with you, I've started feeling a completely different kind of love."

I tightened my hold on her hand.

"What kind?" Rosetta asked. "What's the difference between what you felt for her and what you feel for me?"

She blinked rapidly, as if she were fighting back tears.

I hated hearing her ask things like that because I knew she felt guilty.

She didn't want to feel as though she were competing with her sister.

I knew how deeply she cared about Madeline, how badly she wanted to defend her and keep her safe. I didn't want to come between them and make their reunion painful because of me.

"But the difference is..." I said, placing my hands on either side of her on the mattress as I leaned closer.

"When I realized Madeline truly loved her husband, I didn't try to take her away from him."

I paused, staring more intently into her eyes.

Our breaths were almost mingling now.

"But you..." I continued. "I'd try to take you for myself no matter what. Even if it made me the villain. That's the difference. I can't let myself lose you."

As soon as I said that, Rosetta's lips parted, and she let out a soft breath.

Then her phone suddenly started ringing, and she jumped, giving me a quick push away from her.

It was playful, but at least I could tell the tension had finally left her body.

Rosetta moved toward her phone on the other side of the nightstand and answered it.

"Hello? Ron, how are you?" she asked with so much excitement that I immediately got off the bed and walked over to her.
