Much to the surprise of both Joseph and Cora, an unwanted interloper had managed to track Natalie down at Jenton Girls’ School.

Cora’s plan had been to send Natalie to an unfamiliar environment, even arranging a private dorm room for her, all to shield her from gossip or bad influences. But as it turned out, even the most meticulous plans had blind spots.

When Natalie returned to her room after classes, she found a young woman waiting for her. The stranger looked to be in her late 20s, with an ordinary face but a striking, hourglass figure-the kind of body Natalie found herself wishing she would develop when she grew up.

“Are you the new teacher? Or did someone send you here? Was it Cora, or someone else?”

“Oh?” The woman was amused. Was she that easy to read?

“Before I set foot in this school, I memorized the records of every single staff member and student. Your records were not inside. Since you’re here specifically for me, you must be either sent by Cora or someone else. I’m hoping it’s someone else-someone I actually want to meet.”

“Well, aren’t you a sharp one? The stunt you pulled at Meridian Group wasn’t just a reckless tantrum after all. You actually planned it.” The woman realized she had to drop her guard; the girl standing in front of her was no brainless teenager.

Natalie stared at the woman.

“I’m here to help you, but I’m also here to see if you’re worth it. If there are only a handful of people in Jenton who know the identity of your biological father, the person who sent me is one of them.”

“Good. What do you want me to do before you’ll start talking?”

Natalie let out a long breath. This was exactly what Joseph had predicted. If she made a scene, the people who knew the truth would show up. Still, she remained on high guard, determined not to let herself get played.

“First, I want to know why didn’t the DNA test results you had at the Meridian Group match the results Frank got when he did his own testing?”

“If you really know who my biological father is, then you already know it couldn’t possibly be Frank.

Besides, the copy I had was forged by Joseph.”

“Joseph? What do you mean he needs to fend for his life?”

“He saved someone he shouldn’t have, which means he crossed the wrong people. It was a fatal ideological mistake. Do you really think someone like that gets a happy ending?”

“What kind of ending? He’s just an ordinary doctor. What do you think you’re doing, bullying a guy like him? Don’t hurt him! He raised me. If anything happens to him, I’ll send your photo straight to my mother.”

While they had been talking, Natalie had already covertly snapped a picture of the woman on her phone, using it now as immediate leverage against her.

“I see ‘sharp’ doesn’t even begin to describe you. Fine, we won’t hurt Joseph. But in exchange, you need to tell me exactly when he started doubting your paternity, and just how much he’s managed to find out.”

“Joseph hasn’t told me a thing. If you want to know what he knows, go ask him yourself.”

Seeing that the woman didn’t seem to be genuinely after Joseph’s life, Natalie breathed a sigh of relief. However, she was curious to know what Joseph had uncovered.
