A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 474

Chapter 474

She was the one who told Joseph Skylar’s whereabouts, after all. Inside, she was panicking the whole time.

Joseph, on the other hand, remamed perfectly composed.

Skylar merely gave Joseph a passing glance, believing that the plain-looking doctor was beneath his notice. As his thoughts drifted back to the attack, the pain in his broken linabs flared again.

He drew a sharp breath and said, “I was at home when someone claiming to be from property management came to inspect the utilities. Next thing I knew, they covered my mouth, and I blacked out. I have no idea what happened after that. When I woke up. I was already beaten up.”

So that was what happened. Jenna wondered if Joseph had been there himself.

Yara asked, “Did you get a look at who attacked you?”

Skylar shook his head. “No. Check with the property management office. This was obviously premeditated since they actually had the nerve to attack me. I really underestimated them this time.”

His gaze darkened. “We shouldn’t waste our time fearing the people who carried it out. The one hiding behind the scenes and pulling the strings is the one we can’t forgive. I’ll definitely find that bastard.”

Jenna realized the bastard was right in front of her.

She stole another glance at Joseph and saw that his face remained completely unreadable. His composure was truly remarkable.

Yara said, “Yes, we’ll definitely find him.”

Then, she asked Jenna and Joseph to leave, saying she wanted a private conversation with Skylar.

Neither Joseph nor Jenna had any doubt that the two of them would discuss Cora’s daughters.

Joseph would let them scheme all they wanted. If they couldn’t survive, none of it would matter. This was only the beginning, after all. There was still plenty of suffering awaiting those siblings.

If fate wasn’t on their side, he would crush them completely.

Back in the office, Jenna let out a sigh of relief. Taking off her white coat, she told Joseph to call it a day so they could head home together..

The drive back was silent. Only after they entered the house did Jenna finally ask, “Joseph, you were responsible for Skylar’s injuries, weren’t you?”

Joseph didn’t bother denying it. “I was. Now that I’ve confirmed he’s the bastard I’m looking for, there’s no way I’m letting him off. I won’t kill him just yet. I’ll keep him alive so he can watch everything that’s about to happen while being completely powerless to stop it.”

The more tightly Jenna was tied to him, the less likely she was to betray him. From now on, she would be forced to tollow him no matter what path he decided to follow.

That was just Jenna’s fate. The day she lost the medical duel to Joseph, she lost all control of her life to him.

Broken bones took a long time to heal. Skylar was in for plenty of suffering ahead.

And in the current turmoil engulfing Jenton, those injuries couldn’t have come at a worse time.

The Zahn family needed capable people. If he were unable to contribute, Skylar would inevitably watch the influence and resources under his control be divided among the others.

He was only feeling physical pain now. But after he recovered, he would discover that everything that once belonged to him was

Jenna frowned. “But now the siblings are bound to suspect you. Their next move will be an all-out hunt for you. You’re in danger

Joseph replied calmly, “Suspicion is one thing. Proving it is another. Besides, I’m not just going to sit around waiting to die.”

Joseph took a puff of his cigarette. “A perfectly ordinary man named Joseph disappearing from Jenton wouldn’t affect anyone, would it?”

Jenna stared at him. “So this was your plan all along? Including this new identity? If you hadn’t known how to disguise yourself, you would’ve simply gone into hiding instead, wouldn’t you?”

Then a thought suddenly struck her. “Right now, I’m the only one who knows who you are. Aren’t you worried that I might betray you?”

Joseph replied, “Even if you told Cora what I look like now, it would cost me nothing. I’m not afraid of facing her. And sooner or later, once she learns what I’ve done, she’ll stand against me anyway.”

Joseph had a nagging feeling that Belinda would betray him soon.
