Chapter 468
Two days later, Cora showed up at Joseph’s company, beaming “Honey, I’ve got great news. The kids have all made a full recovery. They really miss you. Please come home with me.”
“Glad to hear they’re better.”
Everything was within Joseph’s expectations. He pulled out a few documents and handed them to her. “Well, haven’t been sitting around doing nothing all this time. There were a few setbacks, but I finally found the truth t was looking for.
“guess the man you’ve been hiding for all these years couldn’t stay hidden forever. Skylar from the Zahn family is the biological father of the girls. The man you’ve been having an affair with is him, isn’t it?”
“W-What the hell are you talking about?”
When Cora saw that the documents were paternity test results, a wave of dread washed over her. And the conclusions on them made her feel even worse. Her daughters really were part of the Zahn family, and Skylar was their biological father?
“The facts are right in front of you. Denying it now is pointless. We’re getting a divorce. You and Skylar are going to come apologize to me and beg for my forgiveness,” Joseph said evenly.
He had already expected Cora to play dumb. At the moment, he was disappointed, heartbroken, and furious, but he kept his temper in check.
“H-How could this be? This is impossible! Honey, don’t believe these test results. You are their biological father.”
Joseph could no longer stand her shameless behavior, so he slapped her.
“Don’t call me ‘honey.’ You don’t have the right.”
“Y-You actually hit me?”
Cora was stunned. Joseph hadn’t gone easy on her when he struck her. As blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, she glared at him coldly. She felt a mix of disappointment, rage, and a creeping sense of fear.
“Then go ahead and try it. Kill me then!” Cora shot back angrily.
“Don’t mind if I do. I’ll show you what I’m capable of. You’ve been testing my limits for far too long. Did you really think I was a pushover?”
Joseph walked over to the medical kit on the desk, pulled out an auto-injector filled with a blue liquid, and started approaching Cora.
“Don’t worry. It won’t hurt at all. You’ll simply fall asleep and have a wonderful dream. You’ll feel the same bliss you felt while you were fooling around with those other men over the years, only this time, it will never end.”
“Y-You’re insane!”
A chill ran down Cora’s spine. She turned and bolted for the door. Joseph’s dead-eyed stare, his dark, menacing presence, and that terrifyingly calm voice made it obvious that he was no longer the man he once was. She didn’ dare call his bluff.
After getting into her car, Cora glared up at Joseph, who was standing by the window upstairs. Unable to accept what had happened, she called her subordinates and ordered them to grab Joseph.
