Chapter 466
“Opening this clinic was a temporary measure to begin with. Now that I’ve accomplished my goal, there’s no point in keeping it around,” Joseph said.
“Then how do we reach you in the future?” Peyton asked.
“I haven’t shut it down just yet. If you guys have any health problems, you can still come to me here. As for what happens later, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to It.”
Joseph didn’t elaborate, simply waving goodbye to Peyton and Wesley.
In the car, Wesley sat there with a serious expression. He couldn’t help but feel that Joseph was acting a bit different.
Peyton asked, “Dad, what’s wrong? Was the treatment different today? Did Joseph not do his best to treat you?”
“Don’t talk about Dr. Hart like that. His skills are incredible, and I’m doing great. My legs feel stronger than they ever have.
“I’m just bummed out that he’s closing the clinic. It means we probably won’t see much of him anymore,” Wesley said.
“For ordinary ailments and minor problems, the doctors back home can take care of them. There’s really no need to come all the way here anymore. Dad, don’t overthink it.
“You’re fully recovered now, so you can go wherever you want,” Peyton said.
Unless something unexpected happened, they probably wouldn’t be seeing Joseph again after this.
“Oh, by the way, didn’t he say something about achieving his goal? What goal was he talking about?” Wesley asked.
“I don’t know. His life is completely different from ours. He might even choose to become a monk.”
“Amonk? What a waste of talent!”
Wesley knitted his brows. Losing a doctor as exceptional as Joseph would be a tremendous loss.
“Dad, people get to choose how they live their lives. You can’t force Joseph to do something he doesn’t want to do. I’ll take you to the airport now, and you can head back home.”
“You’re not coming back with me?”
“When you get back, you can give the girls that antidote I gave you last time. And if you want them up and bouncing off the walls by tomorrow, give them these too.”
Joseph pulled out a prescription. It was mostly standard medications that Cora could easily pick up at any hospital.
“Wait, does this mean they’re no longer in danger?” Cora asked.
“That’s right. There’s no need to worry anymore. They’re free now.”
Joseph motioned for Cora to leave.
“They miss you very much, and I miss you too. Just come home with me, please. I’m begging you,” Cora pleaded.
“You should do as I say. Don’t push it while I still have the patience to talk to you calmly. I told you to leave, so beat it!”
Joseph’s tone was colder this time, and his gaze became more unfamiliar and intimidating.
The three children were innocent. Once they were healthy again, he would finally be free of the weight on his heart. The next step was revealing the truth. And then, it would be time for revenge.
