Chapter 448
“Are we going to Emerald Mountain?” Joseph asked.
Jenna replied, “No, we’re going to Traditional Medicine Center. Wallace probably doesn’t have much time left. You should come with me. Maybe some other members of the Zahn family will show up. It’ll be a good chance for you to network with them.”
“Alright.” Joseph agreed after thinking it over. With his current appearance, only Jenna could recognize him. Even if he went to the hospital, no one else would know who he was.
Joseph drove all the way there. Once Jenna ended a call, he asked, “Didn’t Wallace take a pill that can keep him alive? Now that his condition has turned for the worse, can’t he take another pill?”
Jenna was surprised. “You even know about that? Do you really need my help?”
Joseph replied, “I found out the last time I checked his pulse. His life was only being sustained by an extremely aggressive medicine. Otherwise, he would have died just a few days after being admitted.”
“I see,” said Jenna. She felt a bit better. She didn’t want Joseph to win in every aspect.
She continued, “That medicine was administered by another doctor from our medical sect. It was ordered by Mr. Zahn Senior. He didn’t want Wallace to die, but the latter’s condition had become too critical. Unless a miracle happens, no one can save him.”
“You’re right. Only a miracle could save him,” stated Joseph, a bit surprised.
Had Wallace become that important? Joseph suspected that the Zahn family had run into problems lately and realized that they didn’t have enough capable younger members to take over.
When Joseph and Jenna arrived at the hospital, she went to treat Wallace. Meanwhile, he stood to the side and observed.
Seeing that Wallace was indeed beyond saving, Joseph knew that there was no use in trying to save Wallace. Joseph shook his head at Jenna, signaling that she shouldn’t waste any more effort.
Jenna explained the situation to the Zahn family, and they called her useless. She felt wronged, but she didn’t dare to argue.
Joseph stayed in Jenna’s office and reviewed several more documents. Since nearly all of the hospital’s staff had been called away to save Wallace, no one paid any attention to Joseph.
Joseph went back to the ward and secretly made a few adjustments to Edmund’s condition. Then, he returned to the office.
Just then, he heard a familiar voice. Marla was once again pleading with Jenna to ask him to save her husband. Upon entering the office, Jenna was irritated and was preparing to send Marla away.
At this moment, Joseph suddenly offered a suggestion. “Ms. Sheppard, you can ask Yara for help. Buy one of her miracle pills. It might save your husband.”
Jenna frowned and shot Joseph a puzzled look. She had no idea what he was trying to do.
Marla asked, “What miracle pill?”
Joseph responded, “Ask Yara. She’ll know what you’re talking about. If she pretends not to understand, tell her that you’re referring to the medicine Edmund and Wallace took. Now go. Don’t waste your time here.”
