Chapter 429
Kingsley Estate was like Joseph’s own hotel, somewhere no one knew about.
Before dawn broke, he left for his office to review some texts before heading to the clinic.
Very quickly, he received a call from Marla, who said, “Dr. Hart, please come over to the Traditional Medicine Center now. Hurry! There’s an emergency.”
But Joseph wasn’t in a hurry and said, “I didn’t expect you’d call me again. Didn’t you say you knew nothing at all and that you’d never contact me again?”
“That’s all in the past. I apologize for my behavior. Please be the bigger person and don’t hold it against me! Come to the Traditional Medicine Center right now.”
Did Marla really think apologizing meant everything was water under the bridge? Who did she think she was?
Joseph asked, “Why would I even go to the Traditional Medicine Center? I’m not even a doctor there, and I’m not sick either. I’m really busy!”
As soon as he ended the call, he received a message from Marla, apologizing for the past and begging him to save her husband at the Traditional Medicine Center.
Joseph deleted the text and pretended he hadn’t seen it.
Half an hour later, Marla showed up at the clinic. When she tried to enter, Katie and the others blocked her way.
“I want to see Joseph. I need him to operate on my husband, so don’t get in my way. Otherwise, we’ll miss the best window for the surgery.”
Marla was so anxious that tears started streaming down her face.
“Who sent you here?” Katie shot back.
Even without Joseph saying a word, she knew what he meant. He would never go over to the Traditional Medicine Center to treat patients and save their lives!”
“I came here myself. I know how skilled Joseph is. In all of Jenton, he’s the only one who can perform this surgery. Hurry up and let me in so I can see him.”
“Joseph isn’t a doctor at the Traditional Medicine Center. He doesn’t practice there, so he won’t go there.”
After being reprimanded by Yara, Marla ended the call, feeling extremely helpless. Finally, she thought of Cora and called her to beg for help.
“Ms. Lowell, I’m begging you. Please save my husband.”
“Marla, did you call the wrong number?” Cora was genuinely shocked.
“I didn’t! Ms. Lowell, you’re the only one who can save my husband. I’m begging you. Please save him.”
“Oh? Get to the point.”
“My husband has taken ill and has been admitted to the Traditional Medicine Center. Dr. Geller isn’t confident they can save him, so they refuse to perform the surgery.
“In all of Jenton, only Dr. Hart can do it, but he refused to see me. Ms. Lowell, you’re his wife. If you just ask him, he’ll definitely agree to help.”
“So you want me to beg him? Marla, are you stupid? I can’t ask him. You should do it.” Cora ended the call. She didn’t even dare see him now because he was completely out of her control.
