Chapter 366
Joseph didn’t have many places left to go, so he decided to return to Kingsley Estate and focus on studying the medical manual.
This longevity method was completely different from blood transfusions. Instead, it followed a more traditional path of gathering rare herbs to refine into pills.
His first reading yielded almost nothing. It was no different from trying to decipher an ancient burial text just excavated from a tomb.
Only after reading it a second time did he begin to gain some insight. Little by little, he started to grasp the author’s train of thought, almost as if he had stepped into the author’s shoes. Only then did he truly begin to understand the text.
Unfortunately, the more he understood, the more he realized it was nearly impossible to put into practice. Most of the medicinal ingredients were extraordinarily difficult to obtain. Worse still, several of the required minerals were inherently toxic, including mercury.
Even if such an elixir could prolong one’s life, the poison would likely kill its user long before old age ever could.
Joseph sighed in disappointment.
But still, it hadn’t been a completely wasted effort. At the very least, the theories offered him new insights into cardiovascular medicine and deepened his understanding of methods designed to use medicine as a weapon. Everything in the world was a double-edged sword.
He also figured out how he would answer Mavis.
Early the next morning, Joseph called Mavis and briefly shared his conclusions. He was certain this wasn’t the longevity method that Owen actually used, making him even more convinced now that Owen’s extended lifespan came from blood transfusions.
Mavis considered his words before asking, “Isn’t it also possible that Owen obtained this pill as well? Maybe he successfully refined it and used it himself, but simply refused to hand over the real formula.”
Joseph smirked. “I can’t rule that out. The Zahn medical sect is famous for a reason, after all. They may have already improved the original formula and removed its toxic components. If that’s the case, you’d need to go back and pressure the Zahn family again.”
Mavis replied, “Owen acted in bad faith first. There’s nothing wrong with us confronting him again.”
Joseph understood exactly what that meant. The Croma faction had tasted success, so now they wanted even more; they had no intention of stopping here. Since Joseph had no ability to involve himself further, he simply asked about Mavis’ health for a while before ending the call.
Unexpectedly, Lacey sent him a message from a new number, asking him to call her when he saw it.
When he did, Lacey quickly explained that Cora had gone looking for her and that she had been kicked out of Jenton.
After some thought, Joseph sent Lacey to Horba. He asked her to help him find Marla. He wired her some money to cover her expenses and help her settle in, letting out a quiet sigh as he finished the transaction.
It seemed like he wouldn’t be able to keep coming to Kingsley Estate anymore, either. Otherwise, Cora would find this place sooner or later.

Joseph spoke with Rosalie after that. He encouraged her to live well with Brooke and be more independent. Only then did he leave Kingsley Estate and head back to his company.
He had only been there for ten minutes when Cora walked in.
She said, “I looked for you all night, but couldn’t find you anywhere. Where were you?”
Cora noticed that Joseph looked completely refreshed. It was obvious he had slept well, while she had spent the entire night awake. The stark contrast made Joseph seem utterly heartless.
Joseph glanced at her indifferently. “What does that have to do with you? Judging by how you’re acting, have you finally decided to get a divorce? If so, sign the papers, and we can go file them today. After that, we’ll have nothing to do with each other.”
Cora said, “Do you really have to start talking about divorce so early in the morning?”
Cora had been on the verge of losing her temper and demanding to know why Joseph would rather spend time with Lacey than come home to her. However, she stopped herself, remembering that she was the one who had arranged for Lacey to approach Joseph in the first place.
She’d intended to use Lacey to tempt him into compromising himself, giving her the leverage to keep him under control. Yet, Joseph wasn’t afraid of being exposed at all, even shamelessly joking that Lacey was his wife. If a husband slept with his own wife in a dormitory, who had the right to criticize him?
He had even turned the tables, accusing whoever secretly filmed them of maliciously violating his privacy, making himself look like the victim in all this.
Cora never anticipated that, after the photos and videos leaked, people would start to fixate on Joseph’s well- endowed physique instead. Many men looked on with envy, while many women seemed to look at him with tempting gazes.
