Chapter 351
“Well, we can’t rule that out. If that really happens, there won’t be much I can do about it.” Joseph’s expression turned grave. He didn’t trust the outsiders. If they truly reached a peaceful agreement with the Zahn family, he would find a way to sabotage it.
“I want to take control of the Towne family and be the master of my own fate. Joseph, tell me what to do.” Belinda clenched her teeth, determined to seize this chance.
Jonas was at the height of his power. It didn’t even matter if she exposed Joseph anymore; Jonas would continue making her life hell regardless. He would never abandon his alliance with Cora for her sake.
Profit would always come first.
Joseph said, “You have two options. The first is to openly oppose Jonas by raising Maurice’s banner and pinning the blame for his death squarely on Jonas’ arrogance and incompetence.
“The second would be to keep your head down and build your strength quietly. Contact allies in secret and wait for the right opportunity. However, that opportunity may never come. And even if it does, you could misjudge the timing and let it slip away.”
Belinda frowned. “I have to make another choice? Joseph, I’m terrified of making the wrong call right now. Just point me toward the path you think I should take. As long as it’s practical, I’ll follow it.”
Joseph replied, “Then choose the second option. I have a feeling the outsiders will make their move against Jonas soon. When they do, your opportunity will come.”
Belinda raised her cup, deciding to trust him. “Here’s to a successful partnership, then!”
The two continued discussing their strategy for quite some time.
Eventually, Joseph received a call from Yelena. She was bringing him some guests from the Roth family of Venley.
They were a father and daughter pair. The father, Wesley Roth, was 55. He had broad shoulders and a rugged build, but despite his imposing appearance, he was confined to a wheelchair because both of his legs were paralyzed.
His daughter, Peyton Roth, was 30. She was petite and graceful, with a very delicate sort of beauty. When she spoke, however, it was with a heavy accent.
Joseph examined Wesley and quickly reached a conclusion. His condition was somewhere between ALS and a non- degenerative paralysis, which left room for hope. If it were truly ALS, treatment would have been vastly more difficult.
Fortunately, the illness hadn’t progressed that far. As Joseph inserted the acupuncture needles, he casually tapped Wesley’s knee while the man wasn’t paying attention. The knee jerked in response.
“Dad, can you feel your legs again?” Peyton’s eyes lit up. This was something no other doctor had been able to
achieve.
“It feels like I’m finally getting them back! Dr. Hart, you’re a miracle worker.” A faint current seemed to flow through Wesley’s legs. For the first time in years, it felt as if they actually belonged to him again.
“That’s only a fraction of what Joseph can do. Now do you see why I insisted you work with him?” Yelena said.
Joseph shook his head. “This is only the start. The last stretch is always the hardest. If you want to walk normally again, you’ll need several more treatments. Assuming everything goes well, it’ll take about half a month.”

Wesley quickly replied, “Then half a month it is. If I can walk again in 15 days, our family will view you as our lifelong benefactor.”
Joseph raised his hands. “No…”
“No, Dr. Hart,” Wesley interrupted, his voice thick with gratitude. “Your kindness deserves that much, No one else understands how much I’ve suffered over the past ten years!” As long as he could recover, he was willing to pay any price.
“Let’s focus on curing you first.” Joseph didn’t press the matter. He was building alliances, and too much modesty would only come across as false humility.
Wesley gave Peyton a look that she immediately understood. She stepped out into the courtyard to discuss the finer details of their arrangement with Joseph.
Without any hesitation, she asked, “I want to meet Joseph’s wife tonight. Is there anything specific I should know before I go?”
