Chapter 291
“Indeed. Your wife is not as simple as she looks. Cora is the richest woman in Jenton-the richest person too!
“She’s so pretty too. No wonder you can’t bring yourself to divorce her.” Sally had said all that because she had looked into Cora and ended up feeling inferior.
Whether it was looks, status, or wealth, Cora came out on top in every way. Sally had nothing she could compete
with.
Of course, Sally was much younger and also divorced. In that sense, they were the same kind of people.
Sally pushed her shoulders back and lifted her chest slightly. Even though they weren’t as full as Cora’s, thought men would like them.

Sally continued, “But I’ll be good to you, Joseph. I’ll treat you better than your wife ever did. Back then, I didn’t know what love or marriage was, but now I do. I’ve fallen for you…”
“Ms. Hawke, what’s up with you today? Is this really the time to be saying all this? It’s disrespectful to both of us.
“Let’s put a stop to this. You should go home and rest.”
For a moment, Joseph even wondered if Jenna had poisoned Sally too. Why would she even say something like that?
“Well, forgive me for being so forward. If you ever get a divorce, please consider me before anyone else. I may not be as attractive as an 18-year-old, but I’ll cherish you!
“Even after we get married, I won’t stop you from seeing younger women. I’ll still give you your freedom!”
“Well, I’ll think about that if I ever get divorced and decide to remarry.” Joseph walked Sally out. If he ever remarried, he wouldn’t consider someone like her.
Sally was divorced and no longer young. Joseph still wanted children of his own-at least two or three. That meant he had to marry someone younger.
At this point, if Joseph were to get divorced and remarried, Grace would be his first choice. But that would only be possible if he could divorce Cora in the first place.
When he thought about Cora refusing to divorce him, he felt a splitting headache coming on.
Later, he received a call from Cora. “Honey, I’m so sorry. I was busy earlier and just got home.”
“You don’t have to explain yourself. I know you’re really busy. Natalie already told you guys everything, right?
“I won’t repeat myself then. Just be careful about what you eat for now. Don’t let anyone poison you. If you do get poisoned, remember that the Zahn medical sect was behind it, You can go after them.”
“Honey, why would they even poison me?”
“Because of me! If you had nothing to do with me, you wouldn’t have been dragged into this. Of course. Perhaps I’m overthinking it. Maybe the Zahns wouldn’t dare hurt you.”
With that, Joseph ended the call.
If he had been competing with anyone else to see who was a better doctor, he wouldn’t have been worried about them going after Cora. But this was Jenna of the Zahn family. That changed everything.

But the Zahns were an elite mythical-tier family in Jenton. They were so far above everyone that the Lowells were no match for them.
There was no point in overthinking it. He turned off his phone and went to bed.
After receiving treatment, Jerome was out of the woods. His condition was improving as he entered the recovery
stage.
Jerome was deeply grateful to Joseph and was determined to stay on good terms with him. From now on, for even the slightest illness, Joseph would be the first doctor he turned to.
But Joseph had no time to dwell on that. Some of his former patients had fallen critically ill and were readmitted to the hospital, and their families refused to trust any other doctor except Joseph.
After working nonstop, Joseph managed to bring them back from the brink, but he felt no sense of accomplishment.
Over the past few days, the same thing happened. Every day, Jenna and her subordinates would poison one of his former patients, who would be brought back to Joseph for treatment. It drained most of his time and strength, leaving him seething with fury.
One day, Joseph was summoned to the hospital director’s office and found two young siblings waiting for him. The brother wore glasses and had a gentle, refined demeanor, though he couldn’t be called handsome. The sister was gorgeous, but her eyes were deeply set, and she wore thick glasses-around -8.00 diopters.
“Dr. Hart, these are Kenneth and Katie Gould. They come from a family of traditional medicine doctors.
“Back then, Mr. Gould Senior was a prominent figure in the field who could go toe-to-toe with the Zahns. The siblings know you’re currently competing with the Zahns over who’s the better doctor, and they’re here to help!”
