Zachary’s expression darkened. When Yasmin went out to stop Joseph and came back alone, it was obvious that Joseph didn’t care who Zachary was.

Coldly, Zachary muttered, “Joseph is way too full of himself. He’s forcing us to use harsher methods. If it weren’t for the fact that he’s still useful to Mavis, I would have dealt with him already.”

“That’s enough. There are many people around. If someone overhears you, you’ll regret it later,” said Yasmin. Although she wasn’t happy either, she knew there was a time and place for everything. A while later, they left.

Once they were in the car, Zachary stopped holding back. He stated, “I’ll give Joseph one more chance. If he doesn’t know what’s good for him, he’ll learn the cost of refusing us.”

Yasmin responded, “You’ve had a few drinks and suddenly think you can say anything. Mavis still needs Joseph for her treatment.

“If you target him now, you might as well publicly admit that you’re the one who arranged for her to be infected with cholera. Forget Mavis. Your relatives would never let you get away with it.”

Yasmin tended to think several steps ahead. Zachary’s direct and aggressive approach often made her feel helpless, but she had to accept it.

Then, she added, “Jenton is too quiet. When we came here last time, it wasn’t this way. It seems that something big is about to happen. If you’ve got this much energy, you would be better off figuring out where the real risks are.”

Zachary replied, “Other than the Lowell family, nothing here is worth worrying about. Cora has one unpredictable variable, and that is Joseph. As long as he’s around, she won’t be able to focus completely.”

“Speaking of Cora, who do you think the other man is? Who’s so charming that she had three children for him? As a woman, I’m certain that she loves him deeply. What impresses me more is how perfectly she kept it hidden all these years,” Yasmin said.

Zachary laughed. “Women from rural areas are seriously petty, foolish, and incapable of seeing the bigger picture. You call this clever? I call it stupid. Look what happened. The truth eventually came out.

“And Joseph is useless. If I were in his shoes, I would have taught Cora a lesson and found the man she cheated on me with. Then, I’ll torture them to death.”

Yasmin found it strange. Joseph had learned that Cora had cheated on him and that the children might not be biologically his. Yet, he still seemed restrained. He didn’t seem to be doing anything. Was he really weak?

That couldn’t be right. Joseph had superb medical skills. Even Mavis valued him highly. Such a person wasn’t destined to remain insignificant. He would rise above everyone around him.

Yasmin suddenly thought of something else and asked, “I heard Mavis mention something. She seems interested in matching Joseph with Grace after his divorce. What’s your opinion?”

At the mention of Grace, her beauty, her figure, and the forbidden relationship flashed through Zachary’s mind. His mouth felt dry. Letting out a breath, he said, “Joseph sure is lucky, but that’s just what Mavis wants. She ignores the things she should worry about and obsesses over things she shouldn’t.”

“I know you and your relatives have been eyeing Grace, but keep your hands to yourself. If I find out you’ve crossed a line, I’ll make you pay the price. I’ll castrate you!” Yasmin warned.

“I’m not that kind of person,” Zachary defended. For some reason, he felt a chill run through his body. Trying to change the subject, he said, “You’ve given me an idea. If Joseph refuses to cooperate again next time, I’ll castrate him!”
