Joseph was the head of the EU, so he was already swamped with work. On top of that, he avoided appearing too involved in Warren’s case, deliberately keeping his hands off Warren’s treatment. So, no one suspected that he tampered with anything.
Stepping out of the emergency room, Joseph spotted a familiar woman entering Frank’s roofn, so he walked over.
That woman was Mary, the former housekeeper achis house. Joseph had also found out sometime ago that she was Frank’s mistress.
“Who allowed you in here? Get out!” Joseph barked as he walked over.
Mary froze in shock. She had only just arrived and hadn’t even had the chance to speak to Frank before Joseph discovered her.
“Mr. Hart…”
Joseph didn’t give Mary the chance to speak. “You and I have nothing to do with each other. Don’t even think about trying anything. Get lost!”
The last thing he needed was for Frank’s lover to pass him information. If Frank became aware of too much, Joseph would lose his leverage over him.
After chasing Mary away, Joseph turned his attention to a middle-aged doctor who was already in the room. “I don’t care who you’re working for-whether it’s the Lowell family, the Croma faction, or anyone else. You can pack up your desk and submit your resignation today.”
The doctor’s expression darkened. “Joseph, don’t push things too far. This hospital isn’t yours…”
Joseph cut him off. “If you have a problem with my leadership, go complain to the administration. Bring whoever you want. I don’t care who shows up, but you’re not staying in my department.”
Once the matter was settled, Joseph personally examined Frank. Fortunately, he found no signs that anyone had done something to Frank. Only then did he let out a sigh of relief.
“And if his family thinks our hospital is that much better, have him make a name for himself over there first. After that, he can come back and show off to me.”
After rejecting Dave, Joseph ended the call. Just then, Mary knocked on the door and entered.
“Joseph, do you have some kind of problem with me? Why are you going against me like this?” Mary demanded angrily.
Joseph let out a cold laugh. “You helped cover for Cora and hid so many things from me over the years. Why would I bother being polite with you? When you were our housekeeper, I treated you like fatnily and showed you respect.
“You’re no longer my employee, so what are you to me? Why would I need to show you any respect?”
Mary glared at Joseph. “And what about you? You’re just someone who lives off your wife. No one respects you in the Lowell household. You’re nothing but a useless bum! No wonder Cora had another man’s child instead of yours! Joseph, you’re the most useless, spineless man I’ve ever met!”
Mary was so furious that she relentlessly tore into all of Joseph’s most vulnerable wounds. Then, she looked down on him with a smug, triumphant smile.
