Chapter 5
Chapter 5
“Tell me you’re joking.”
Kaia didn’t even try to hide the disbelief in her voice.
We were standing by my lucker, the hallway as usual buzzing with active and people talking way too loudly, with laugher filling the hallway, one way too louder like they had just discovered comedy for the first time.
And there was me, calm, confident afid very much certain with my decision. “This isn’t a joke, Kaia.” I said, popping my gum. “The situation presented itself at the perfect time and now I have a solid plan.”
I mean this might take a little bit of dig to my reputation, but desperate times calls for desperate measure and I was very much in one that I couldn’t escape.
Kaia blinked at me slowly, “Delilah…..you do realize that solid plan of yours involves you offering yourself to the biggest nerd in Crestmont Prep as….what? A reward system.”
When she put it that way, it was displeasing, and again a freaking dig to my reputation.
I leaned against my locker folding my arms. “Relax, It’s not a reward system. This is simple an…..exchange, between two not so desperate but desperate individuals.”
“That sound not so reassuring, and way worse when you say it like that.”
“Take it as me being practical.” I corrected. “This is the only plan I can think of to get him to tutor me. His sex life sucks, like down the drain suck. I doubt he had locked lips with a girl before, his entire love life is dead on arrival, honestly, it’s embarrassing. While I on the other hand…” I continued, pointing a finger to myself, “Have all the experience he needs. He helps with my grades and I help him level. I call that a win win.”
Kaia stared at me for a second, before shaking her head. “You’re insane.”
“Am I?” I tilted my head. “Caelum is desperate right now to win Olivia after getting rejected because of his lack of experience, I doubt he wants her remaining the hands of Jason, and being toyed with.”
She wince. “You say that so casually.”
“Because it’s true,” I shrugged. “And boys, when they like a girl that much, they’ll do anything to get her. I’ve seen it before.”
Landon immediately came to mind. I’d sat through two months of space documentaries and fake enthusiasm just because he liked that stupid sci-fi franchise.
Two months.
For a boy
Embarrassing
“So,” I continued, “Caelum needs experience, I have experience. I need grades, he has grades. It’s basic math.”
“Did you just reduce sex to math?” Kaia asked flatly.
“Everything is math if you think about it.”
“Everything isn’t math, Delilah..”
I tried not to let out a sign, knowing the reason why she was like this was because she was concerned about the whole thing, and at the same time I was getting frustrated In having to explain more to her without her finding a way to upturn it.

Chapter 5
I waved her off. “Point is, it works.”
She leaned closer, lowering her voice. “Or… he reports you, you get expelled, and your parents disown you.”
I smiled. “He won’t.”
“You sound very sure.”
“I am.”
Because in my world, guys didn’t say ho.
Yeah maybe they do hesitated, pretend and acted like they had morals. But in the end… In the end, they always fold. Always.
My eyes flicked past her shoulder, spotting him almost immediately, Caelum.
He was walking dome the hallway like the weight of the world had personally offended him.
Poor thing.
His head was slightly down, hands shoved into his pocket, wearing the same worn out hoodie. He clearly doesn’t care about his appearance, not dressed like that.
He looked off. I means he is always off, he is the embodiment of everything ackward. But right now it seemed to have intensified.
This make my plan perfect.
“Target spotted,” I muttered.
Kaia followed my gaze. “Aww. He looks freaking depressed. I can literally feel it seeping off him”
“Told ya.” I bit at the bottom of my lips, holding back a chuckle.
“Hold on just a second though.” She raised her hand, placing it on my shoulder. “How do you plan on approaching this, he already rejected you once, remember.”
“That is because I had nothing to bargain with. But now I do.” I smirk. “And about what to say,” I shrugged. “I guess I will just have to improvise.”
“That’s not reassuring.”
“Relax,” I said, already pushing off the locker. “Just… keep people distracted.”
Kaia grabbed my arm. “Deli…”
Too late, I was already moving.
Caelum turned the corner before I could catch up, and I picked up my pace, weaving through people until….
“Hey, Delilah.” My step halted mid step.
Of course, because what a perfect fucking ass loving timing.
I turned.
Sophie Delgado stood there, clutching her books like they were emotional support animals. Soft eyes, nervous posture.
And getting on my last bitchy ass nerves.
