When I Flash-Married a Billionaire, My Ex Went on a Hunger Strike novel Chapter 59

Ruby held an ice pack to her chin and snapped, "You’ve got some nerve asking that! Your damn snake scared Mom so badly she fell!"

But Adora had already reviewed the footage from her room.

The security camera faced both the desk and the doorway, and she’d seen everything crystal clear on her phone.

Ruby had sprinted out of the room in a panic and slammed straight into Lilian from behind, knocking both of them to the floor in a heap.

It was a nasty fall and judging by the impact, they were probably bruised all over.

But as expected, Ruby deflected all responsibility without a second thought and threw the blame squarely onto her.

Theodore, seeing his eldest daughter finally return, barked from the doorway, "Get that thing out of here now!"

Adora walked into the living room and sighed. "It’s the middle of the night. Where exactly am I supposed to take it? Just don’t go into my room and you won’t have to see it."

Then she turned to glance at everyone, her tone calm but tinged with curiosity. "The door was shut. I even had it covered. What were you all doing in my room, anyway?"

Before anyone could answer, she tilted her head slightly, eyes locking onto Ruby. "Let me guess, you came up with another brilliant scheme to frame me?"

"I did not!" Ruby shot back, seething. "I was helping pack your things!"

"Pack my things?"

"Louis and I are rescheduling our engagement party this Saturday. You’ll be moving out for a few days. Come back after it’s over."

Ruby’s tone was clipped and commanding, like she owned the place.

Adora glanced around at the rest of her family, a faint smile touching her lips. "So, you’ve all agreed that it’s time to kick me out once again."

Lilian’s face twisted in anguish.

"Adora, you’ve changed into someone we barely recognize! You’re mentally ill! Who in their right mind keeps a horrifying snake like that in their bedroom?"

Back in her room, Adora approached the kingsnake resting calmly in its enclosure.

The vendor at the pet market taught her how to handle the snake.

She’d even let it coil around her wrist once just for a moment and that was enough to make Laura recoil and wrinkle her nose in horror.

The entire Matthews family in the living room stared like they were seeing a ghost.

Their eyes bulged, and they all instinctively staggered back, trembling in fear.

"Adora, don’t come any closer!"

"Stay back! You’re insane! You’ve lost your mind!"

Eugene burst through the front door, having rushed over in a panic, only to freeze at the sight in front of him.

His face contorted in a mix of shock and disbelief.

Ruby spotted him and immediately burst into tears, throwing herself into his arms. "Eugene, I’m scared… she’s gone completely insane!"

Eugene held his fiancée close, eyes still locked on Adora as he warned, "Be careful, Adora, it’s still a snake."

Adora smiled, unbothered by the chaos around her. "Her name’s Ruby. Fitting, isn’t it?"

She let the words hang in the air before adding, "All of you treat me like I’m toxic, but this snake? She doesn’t. Isn’t that just a little ironic?"
