Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 111

Amber had no ulterior motives; she and Sharif were simply business partners.

"How do you want to handle this?"

Sharif didn't think his question would put Amber in a difficult position. In fact, he was quite curious to see her next move.

The baseball bat in his hand was already stained with blood. If she wanted to beat them herself, he'd gladly hand it over.

But Amber declined.

She didn't need to lift a finger against the thugs Joanne had sent; getting her hands dirty wasn't worth it.

Wade had been beaten so badly by Sharif that he could only sprawl on the ground, glaring. Amber crouched down and met his eyes. "I'm giving you a chance to redeem yourself. You can either live or die. What's it going to be?"

Wade tried to lift his head. Obviously, he wanted to live. But given how hard Sharif had hit him, and the fact that they had nearly assaulted Amber, did he really have a chance?

Seeing the desperate will to survive in his eyes, a faint smile touched Amber's lips. She patted his pockets and pulled out his phone. Fortunately, it wasn't completely broken.

She made him unlock it and pull up his texts with Joanne. Scanning their conversation, a cold, murderous glint flashed in her eyes.

Wade's unease washed over him. "W-what do you want me to do?"

Amber scoffed. "That depends on how cooperative you're willing to be."

She stood up and turned to Sharif. "Mr. Madison, didn't you have a flight to catch? Thank you for today. Could you please have Mr. Zeller send me the footage of them harassing me? You should go catch your plane. The private investigator here can give you a full report on how I deal with this. I just hope you won't think I'm too ruthless."

Class was starting in ten minutes, and it wasn't a good idea for her to show up at school looking like a mess.

More importantly, her phone was broken, so she had no idea if Vance had made it back safely.

Although Wade took orders from Joanne, Vance's father had ties with Joanne's father, so even Wade wouldn't dare touch Vance.

Amber needed Julian to confirm Vance's safety, and handling this mess would take time. There was no need for Sharif to delay his trip for her.

Sharif remained silent for a moment. Julian shot him a look, silently indicating there was no rush since the flight had already been rebooked. Right now, she was the priority.

However, Sharif acted as if he hadn't noticed. "Alright, I'll wait for the good news."

Then, he glanced at the private investigator. "Add today's reporting fee to your final invoice. Stay here and assist her."

The investigator was speechless.

Lyle simply rubbed his temples, finally understanding why his boss was still single.

He truly earned it.

"Boss..."

"Now, let's settle the score."

—Amber was going to make Joanne pay a price so heavy that she'd never dare mess with her again.

Meanwhile, Joanne was still fuming over the fact that Sharif had bought drinks for everyone in Amber's class that morning, completely leaving her and Lucian out.

For lunch, she deliberately dragged Lucian to the Daily Grind—the very same cafe Sharif had used for Amber's class. She ordered lattes and pastries.

She wanted to show every student and alumni walking in that while Sharif might buy drinks for Amber, Lucian would buy them for her.

Even if they couldn't finish them, she ordered twenty cups just to line them up on the table and show off.

Lucian's eyes flashed with a hint of impatience. If he had the wealth he possessed in his past life, he wouldn't mind buying two hundred cups or even the whole cafe just to make her happy.

But right now, he was just a broke student. His mother had started restricting his allowance. Even though she told him to eat whatever he wanted, she didn't mean for him to waste money like this.

"Joanne..."

Lucian wanted to tell her they just needed to endure this until graduation. Once it was over, he'd spend whatever she wanted. But seeing her eagerly snapping photos of the lattes, the words caught in his throat.

He told himself, It's just twenty coffees, right? If she's happy, just buy them. When did you get so cheap, Lucian?

Just then, Joanne's phone buzzed with several incoming texts.
