Wade and his thugs stood frozen. First, it meant Amber and the PI had been telling the truth. Second, the CEO of the Madison Group actually looked ready to brawl with them.
Wade shoved Amber aside, releasing her hair, and sneered. While his four men trembled at Sharif's overwhelming presence, Wade wasn't backing down.
Despite never having met Sharif Madison before, the sheer dominance radiating from him was suffocating.
"Just you, Mr. Madison?"
Wade had spent years collecting debts from both the poor and the rich. He'd seen plenty of expensive bodyguards, but the rich bosses were always cowards.
He cracked his neck, his bulky, muscular frame meant to be intimidating.
Sharif scoffed coldly. "Isn't one enough? For street trash like you, being dismantled by me personally is an honor. If you have any sense, you'll get on your knees and thank me. I have a flight to catch."
Spit! Wade was absolutely furious. "Boys, since Mr. Madison is begging for a beating, don't hold back! Taking out the richest man in Riverport is something you can brag about for the rest of your lives!"
"Grab your weapons and get him!"
Wade refused to believe that a billionaire who sat behind a desk all day could actually fight. Beating him to a pulp would make them legends.
After finishing the damage report, Julian walked straight past the thugs toward Amber. Helping her up, he reassured her gently, "Don't worry, Ms. Newman. Mr. Madison will have this sorted out in a minute."
Lyle opened the trunk, grabbed a first-aid kit, and handed it to Julian while taking Sharif's jacket, tie, watch, and glasses. Acting as though his boss wasn't currently facing a five-on-one street fight, Lyle carefully placed the items in the car. He then looked at the battered PI. "Please sit tight. Once Mr. Madison is finished, we'll take you to the hospital or call you a cab. All your medical expenses will be fully covered. Thank you for your hard work."
The private investigator's jaw dropped. First, he was stunned that the driver wasn't the least bit worried about the CEO getting killed. Second, he was floored that Sharif actually knew how to fight.
This was an absolute revelation. It wasn't every day you saw the city's wealthiest man go rogue. If his phone wasn't smashed, he would have recorded the entire glorious spectacle.
Julian helped Amber sit down on some debris, opening the first-aid kit to treat her wounds. "This might sting a bit, Ms. Newman. Please bear with it."
Honestly, Julian would have preferred leaving the tender-care routine to Sharif, but his boss had mentioned a flight to catch. Plus, Julian highly doubted Sharif even knew how to apply medicine properly.
His boss was way too emotionally dense for a 'soft boy' moment like this.
Amber winced, drawing a sharp breath, her eyes filled with anxiety. Misunderstanding her fear, Julian added, "You don't need to worry. Unless Mr. Madison actively wants to take a punch, nobody here can lay a finger on him."
He had, after all, transitioned from the military to the boardroom.
Wade spat blood, gripped his baseball bat, and charged blindly at Sharif.
Amber's heart leapt into her throat. But Sharif's eyes simply narrowed. Calculating the angle perfectly, he sidestepped Wade's swing and delivered a punishing kick.
Despite his massive size, the blow sent Wade staggering back. Refusing to stay down, he swung the bat wildly.
Sharif caught the barrel of the bat bare-handed, delivered a brutal knee to Wade's stomach, and ripped the weapon away.
He rested the tip of the bat on the concrete. "You slapped her three times and tore her clothes, right?"
Sharif swung the bat like a golf club directly into Wade's ribs.
Wade let out a blood-curdling scream. Amber actually had to close her eyes.
She had seen Sharif's violent side before. During those corporate ambushes in her past life, he had practically carved a path out with his bare hands.
She remembered it vividly. He had shoved her behind him, covered in blood, and asked, "Are you scared?"
