"Exactly." She leaned forward, her eyes burning. "Listen to me, Julian. You have to retrieve that video from Celeste. Think of how she made your video go viral. You said it was Dominic Ford, but I know Celeste must have put him up to it. If she could do it once, she could do it to us. She will ruin me. She will ruin your sister. Julian, you need to get that video."

"Mom, there is something you do not understand." I took a breath. "Celeste is this way because of what I did to her. I pushed Celeste to cheat on me. That is my fault. That is why I am fighting so hard to get her back. If I had not let that snake Seraphine into my life, I would still have my wife with me. So don't you ever try to pull such a stunt on Celeste again. I would have never forgiven you if those men had taken turns on her."

She stared at me, and her face went through a dozen emotions in the span of a breath, settling finally on something cold and hard. "What are you saying? Even after everything Celeste has done to us, you are still taking her side? You are still taking her side?"

I did not answer. I turned and walked out of the ward, out of the hospital, my footsteps echoing down the empty corridors, and I stood outside in the night air with my hands shaking and my mind going nowhere.

Nothing was going my way. Nothing. I was no closer to getting Celeste back, and Dominic was only getting closer to her. The trump card I had held against him, Scarlett, was gone, lost to whatever bargain she had made with him. I never should have sent her to him in the first place. And if I ever caught Scarlett and the other girls, I would destroy them completely. Every last one of them.

The anger was a living thing in my chest, hot and restless, demanding an outlet. I pulled out my phone and called Leslie.

She picked up on the second ring. "Julian. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I need you to meet me at a hotel. I am angry, and I need someone to work this anger out on. Do not worry, I will pay you well."
