I watched the war play out across Felix’s face, the way his jaw tightened and loosened, the way his eyes searched mine for something he could hold onto, something that would make this decision easier. I reached up and touched his cheek, my fingers trailing down the side of his face, and I felt the slight tremor that ran through him at my touch.
“I am sorry,” I whispered. “I would not ask if there was any other way.
He closed his eyes. Took a breath. Let it out slow.
And then he nodded.
I did not give him time to change his mind. I sat up and reached for the hem of my dress, pulting it over my head in one smooth motion, letting it fall to the floor in a pool of fabric. I was not wearing a bra underneath, my breasts bare, my nipples already hard and sensitive from the drug coursing through my veins. I was standing before him in nothing but my panties, my skin flushed, my breath coming in shallow gasps.
“Seraphine, wait.” He caught my wrist, his grip gentle but firm. “This is not right. You are not in your right mind. I cannot take advantage of you like this.”
“You are not taking advantage of me.” I stepped closer, pressing my body against his, letting him feel the heat radiating off my skin. “I am asking you to save my life. That is all that matters right now. Please, Felix. Do not let me die.”
