Ryan sat on the couch, clutching his phone, fingers flying across the screen, occasionally lifting it to photograph the property deed from different angles.
From his expression, he was clearly spreading the good news about “his” new property.
I quietly slipped the deed away.
He accidentally played a voice message – Jade’s angry voice blasted from the speaker. “Ryan, you want to break up? No way! Everyone’s attacking me online…”
Ryan looked up, saw me, and frantically cut off the message.
Playing the role of caring wife, I asked sweetly: “Honey, is something wrong?”
“Just a spam call, babe. Let me make you my special braised pork to celebrate!”
He hastily locked his phone, eagerly donning an apron and rolling up his sleeves, humming
as he headed to the kitchen.
I snapped a photo of him cooking and sent it to Jade from my main account, adding the message: “Here’s your cheap man making his cheap pork. Want me to bring you a bowl, you cheap woman?”
Almost immediately, someone started pounding on our door.
I ran to the kitchen, playing up my fear with trembling hands.
“Honey, someone’s at the door – they sound really angry. I’m scared… could you to check.
it?”
I clung to his arm, pulling him toward the door.
“Who the hell at this hour- He yanked the door open ready to yell, but seeing Jade, he
went silent with fear.
His hand shook as he tried to close the door again.
