The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 95

Chapter Ninety Five

Before they could step out of Damon’s office, a firm presence moved in front of him.

Natasha.

She didn’t raise her voice.

She didn’t need to.

“We will talk about this later, Damon.”

Her tone was steady-

But beneath it was something heavier.

Disappointment.

“I want to be able to look your mother in the eyes when I meet her in the afterlife…”

A pause.

“And tell her I did not fail in raising you the way she would have.”

Silence filled the room.

Damon didn’t look away.

Didn’t argue.

Didn’t defend himself.

“I understand.”

And for once-

There was no arrogance in his voice.

Only acceptance.

He stepped around her.

Beside him, Willow moved quietly.

Behind them, Conall followed.

The moment they stepped outside, the air shifted.

The Rogue Kingdom was alive.

Strong.

Watchful.

“What’s happening at the gate?” Willow asked as they walked toward the front of the massive structure

that served as the heart of the pack.

Damon glanced at her.

“Some rogues are requesting sanctuary.”-

He paused slightly.

“The guards said there’s a female… and a pup.”

Willow’s expression softened immediately.

“Does that happen often?”

“Sometimes.”

Damon’s tone shifted-

More thoughtful now.

“When my father built this place… before it was called a kingdom…”

“He accepted anyone who asked for sanctuary.”

He looked ahead, but his voice carried something deeper.

“Rejected wolves. Banished wolves. Loners.”

“They don’t become feral overnight.”

A pause.

“Loneliness does that.”

“If they find a place before it consumes them… they survive.”

Willow studied him quietly.

“Your father sounds like a good wolf.”

Damon let out a quiet breath.

“He was.”

Another pause.

“And he would be furious with me right now.”

Willow blinked slightly.

“For what I did to you.”

His jaw tightened.

“My mother too.”

They believed in the Goddess. In mate bonds.”

His voice lowered.

“They always said amate is the greatest blessing we could ever receive… and something we should protect with everything we have.”

A faint, bitter smile crossed his face.

“If they were here… they’d kick my ass.”

A small snort came from the side.

“I don’t think you’ll avoid that anyway.”

Conall leaned back slightly as he spoke.

“You heard my mother.”

“She’s already preparing your punishment.”

A beat.

“My ass is on the line too.”

For the first time since everything began-

Willow smiled.

A real smile.

Soft.

Unforced.

“I’ll remember that,” she said lightly.

“I might need Natasha on my side.”

Damon turned toward her.

And for a moment-

Everything else faded.

Her smile.

Her warmth.

The light in her eyes.

His chest tightened.

He reached out-

Brushed his fingers against her cheek.

“You’re beautiful.”

His voice was softer now.

“The most beautiful-wolf I’ve ever seen.”

A flicker of pain crossed his face.

“How did I let myself hurt you like that…”

Willow stepped back immediately.

The moment broke.

“You won’t earn my forgiveness that easily.”

Her tone was firm.

Grounded.

“Pretty words won’t fix what you did.”

Damon nodded.

“I know.”

“And I’m ready for whatever you give me.”

Willow opened her mouth-

But stopped.

A vehicle had arrived.

The guard signaled.

They moved.

The ride to the gate was quiet-

But tense.

Damon leaned slightly forward.

“What’s wrong?”

He was looking at Conall.

Even Willow could feel it now-

The tension.

“I don’t know.”

Conall’s voice was tight.

Fang’s been restless since we got close to the gate.”

“He won’t tell me why.”

Damon frowned slightly.

“Maybe he’s preparing you for Natasha’s wrath.”

Willow huffed lightly.

“You really think she can punish you?”

“You’re the king and her son the Beta.”

Damon didn’t even hesitate.,

“My title means nothing to her.”

A small glance toward Willow.

“Just like your mother.”

“Does Talon being Alpha King stop her?”

Willow let out a soft breath.

“No.”

A faint smile tugged at her lips.

“Our mother would tear him apart if he messed up.”

The car slowed.

Stopped.

The gate.

Four wolves stood outside.

Three adults.

One small pup.

Even from a distance-

Willow could see it.

They were exhausted.

Worn.

Barely holding on.

Without hesitation-

She gestured weakly.

“My aunt and uncle… Nera and Carl.”

Before Willow could respond

A growl tore through the air.

Then-

Movement.

Conall lunged forward.

“Mate!”

Kira froze-

Eyes wide with fear.

She pulled Blaze closer-

Protective.

Desperate.

Willow moved instantly.

She stepped in front of them-

Facing Conall.

“Stand down.”

Her voice was calm-

But carried undeniable authority.

“You can’t stop me.”

Conall’s eyes burned.

“My mate is right there.”

“I can.”

Willow didn’t raise her voice.

“I will.”

A pause.

“If you care about her…”

“Even a little…”
