Chapter Ninety Three
The soft click of the bathroom door opening pulled Willow back to the present.
For a second, she forgot where she was.
Then she saw him.
Damon stepped out, water still clinging to his skin, a single towel wrapped low around his waist.
Willow’s eyes widened.
“What are you doing here?!” she asked, sitting up so quickly her body protested.
Pain shot through her side, but she ignored it.
“I locked the door last night,” she continued, confusion turning into irritation.
Damon didn’t look bothered.
Not even a little.
“This is my room,” he said simply.
“And I am the king of this pack.”
A pause.
“I have a key.”
Of course he did.
Willow let out a sharp breath.
“I told you last night this is now my room.”
Her voice hardened.
“Can you just go to another one?”
Then she shook her head, already moving.
“No-you know what, forget it.”
She stood up from the bed.
“I’ll just move.”
Her jaw clenched.
“You can have this room.”
“I’ll take another one.”
She turned toward the door-

But Damon was faster.
One second she had space-
The next-
He was there.
Blocking her path.
“You’re not moving.”
His voice wasn’t loud.
But it was firm.
“If you take another room…”
He stepped closer.
“That room becomes mine too.”
Willow’s eyes flashed.
“We are mates,” he continued.
“We stay together.”
His hand lifted-
And before she could react-
He brushed his fingers lightly along her cheek.
Warm.
Gentle.
Infuriating.
“Our mate smells so good…” Winter sighed inside her mind.
“Winter, you are not helping,” Willow snapped internally.
She pushed Damon’s hand away.
“Mate?” she repeated sharply.
“What mate?”
Her voice rose now.
“Mates are equal.”
“They respect each other.”

She stepped closer, eyes blazing.
“So tell me, Damon…”
“When did you ever do that for me?”
Silence.
“When did you respect me?”
“When did you protect me?”
“When did you honor me?”
Her voice broke slightly-
But she didn’t stop.
“When did you ever treat me like your equal?”
Damon didn’t interrupt.
Didn’t defend himself immediately.
He took it.
“I didn’t.”
The admission was quiet.
But clear.
“What I did…”
He exhaled slowly.
“From the moment I met you…”
“…was not what a mate should do.”
Willow’s chest tightened.
“But Willow..”
His voice softened slightly.
“I was thinking about my pack.”
“I was focused on the prophecy.”
“On the Silver Wolf.”

Her expression hardened instantly.
“I was not thinking clearly,” he admitted.
“I was blinded.”
“And when you were hurt…”
His gaze darkened.
“When you needed me to survive…”
A pause.
“I took my chance.”
Willow let out a bitter laugh.
“You took your chance.”
Her voice shook now-
Not from weakness-
But from emotion.
“And in doing that…”
“You took my choice.”
Her eyes burned into his.
“You were so focused on Diana-”
“That you hurt me every single day.”
Every word hit harder.
“You chased her.”
“You wanted her.”
“And when you failed-”
Her voice dropped.
“You decided I was good enough.”
A breath.
“That I could be your mate.”
Her lips trembled.
“Your consolation prize.”

“I’m sorry.”
The words came immediately.
“I am sorry, Willow.”
He stepped closer-
But stopped himself.
“Please…”
His voice was rough now.
“Just give me a chance.”
“To prove to you-”
“That you are not a consolation prize.”
“That from the moment I met you-”
His jaw tightened.
“I wanted you.”
“I just didn’t understand it.”
“I let ambition cloud everything.”
He met her eyes again.
“Just give me a chance.”
Willow’s shoulders dropped slightly.
“I don’t know if I can.”
Her voice was quiet now.
Tired.
“Why?” Damon asked.
“Is it because I forced you to come here?”
“Because I didn’t give you a choice?”
He ran a hand through his hair.
“I couldn’t risk Talon taking you from me.”
“I know what I did hurt you.”

“So I did what I thought would give me time.”
“Time to earn your forgiveness.”
His voice lowered.
“Tell me what to do.”
“Tell me how to fix this.”
“Tell me why you can’t give me a chance.”
Willow stared at him.
And then-
“It hurts.”
The words came out soft.
But heavy.
“It hurts, Damon.”
Tears filled her eyes.
“It hurts that the mate I waited for…”
“…wanted someone else.”
Her voice broke.
“It hurts that you didn’t even reject me.”
“It hurts that every day…”
“You showed me I was unwanted.”
A tear slid down her cheek.
“It hurts to feel like I don’t matter.”
Another breath.
“It hurts to feel like I’m nothing.”
Silence filled the room.
“I can’t do this right now.”
She shook her head slightly.
“It’s too soon.”

Her voice steadied just a little.
“If you have even a little respect for me…”
“Give me space.”
She stepped back.
“I’m here because I had no choice.”
“Because I’m tied to your alliance.”
Her gaze hardened again.
“Do you know how that feels?”
“To only matter because of who I’m related to?”
“To only have value because I’m the Alpha King’s sister?”
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
“I am nothing but a means to an end.”
Damon’s chest tightened visibly.
“I see it now.”
