The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 184

Chapter One Hundred Eighty Four

Diana looked toward Talon. The truth settled heavily between them. Even if they defeated Thorne, it would not truly end.

The darkness would return. Perhaps not in their lifetime. Perhaps not in the lifetime of their children.

But eventually, another Silver Wolf would be born. And another witch would become Gideon’s vessel.

Diana placed one hand over her chest.

“How do we break it?”

Her voice was quiet but firm. Ravenna’s expression became almost hopeless.

“We do not know.”

Diana frowned.

“After thousands of years, no one has discovered how?

My ancestors tried.”

Ravenna leaned back in her chair.

“Every time a Silver Wolf appeared, a White Witch from Agatha’s bloodline also emerged.”

“A guide. A protector. Someone destined to help the Silver Wolf understand her abilities and fight the darkness.”

Diana looked at Ravenna.

“You.”

“Yes.”

“I am the White Witch of this generation.”

Ravenna’s voice carried no pride. Only sorrow.

“My duty is to protect you. To guide you. And to help you defeat Thorne.”

“But if we only defeat him…

She shook her head.

“…the curse continues.”

Diana moved back toward the window.

“What have the previous White Witches tried?”

“Everything. Purification rituals. Blood magic. Sacrifices. Binding the cursed witch’s power. Severing the connection between the Silver Wolf and Gideon’s bloodline. Some attempted to destroy Gideon’s

Talon’s face hardened.

“They killed innocent witches?”

“Yes.”

Ravenna’s voice became bitter.

“They believed the curse would end if Gideon had no descendants left. But it failed. The darkness moved to distant relatives. To hidden branches of the bloodline. To children no one knew existed. Other White Witches tried to prevent Silver Wolves from shifting. Some hid them. Some attempted to suppress their power. And some…”

Ravenna hesitated. Diana looked at her sharply.

“Some what?”

Some killed the Silver Wolf before her first shift.”

The room became completely still. Fenrir growled inside Talon. Artemis’s fury rose beneath Diana’s skin.

“They murdered pups?” Diana asked.

Ravenna looked ashamed.

“They believed it would prevent the curse from awakening.”

“Did it?”

“For a time.”

Ravenna nodded reluctantly.

“But the Silver Wolf was always reborn. Sometimes decades later. Sometimes centuries. The curse simply waited.”

Diana’s stomach turned. So many lives. Witches. Wolves. Children. All destroyed because of one ancient tragedy. Ravenna continued.

“Every generation believed they had discovered a new solution. And every generation failed. The Silver Wolf defeated the cursed witch. The darkness disappeared. Peace returned. And then… It began again.”

Ravenna looked toward Diana with tears in her eyes.

“We are trapped in a loop.”

“The Silver Wolf rises. Gideon’s darkness awakens. A White Witch stands between them. The battle ends. But the war never does.”

Diana remained silent for several moments. Then Artemis finally spoke inside their shared mind.

“There has to be a reason the curse keeps returning.”

Diana agreed.

“A curse does not exist without something feeding it.”

She turned toward Ravenna,

“What keeps the curse alive?”

Ravenna frowned.

“We believe it feeds on Gideon’s final pain. His rejection. His hatred. His belief that Agatha and Lucian stole his future. But Gideon is dead. His body disappeared. His magic did not

Ravenna’s gaze became distant.

“The darkness he accepted became something separate. Something alive. Something that attached itself to his bloodline. And to Lucian’s.”

Diana slowly nodded.

“Then killing Thorne will not break the curse.”

“No.”

Ravenna’s voice cracked.

“It will only kill the man I love.”

Silence returned. Diana looked out at the forest again. She imagined another Silver Wolf centuries from now. Another young woman forced to fight a war she did not begin. Another witch consumed by Gideon’s rage. Another White Witch watching the person she loved become a monster.

“No,” Diana whispered.

Talon stepped closer.

“What are you thinking?”

Diana turned from the window. Her exhaustion remained, but determination now burned in her eyes.

“We cannot repeat what every generation did before us.”

Ravenna watched her carefully.

“We cannot simply fight Thorne and call it victory.”

Diana moved toward the desk.

“We need to understand the curse. Not only Gideon’s hatred. But what gave his magic the power to bind three bloodlines for thousands of years.”

Ravenna’s expression shifted. A faint spark of hope appeared.

“You believe it can be broken?”

“It was created.”

Diana looked at her.

“Anything created can be destroyed.”

Talon nodded.

“Then we find the source.”

Diana reached for his hand.

“And this time…”

Her voice became firm.

“…the Silver Wolf will not only, win the battle.”

She looked directly at Ravenna.

“We will end the war.”
