Chapter One Hundred Seven

Tension settled thick in the room, heavier than the aftermath of the battle itself. No one relaxed. Because for the first time since the attack- they all understood that what they were facing was far bigger than a rogue incursion. Enzo was the first to break the silence. He ran a hand through his hair, pacing once before stopping in front of Talon’s desk.

“What we need now… is information.”

His voice was steady, but there was urgency beneath it.

“Knowledge.”

He looked between them-Talon, Diana, Galvin.

“Because right now… we’re fighting blind.” A pause. “We don’t know who the enemy is.” His jaw tightened slightly.

“We don’t even fully understand what a Silver Wolf is.”

His eyes shifted to Diana. “Or what a Silver Wolf is capable of.”

Diana didn’t interrupt. Didn’t argue. Because he was right.

Enzo continued, his tone sharpening.

“We know some things.” He held up a finger. “We know Luna Diana’s blood can counter poison-wolfsbane included.”

Another finger. “We know that alone makes her… different.”

A third. “And we know the Rogue King originally wanted her.”

A brief glance toward Talon.

“But we don’t know why.”

That question lingered. Unanswered. Uncomfortable.

Galvin stepped forward slightly, arms crossed.

“Enzo’s right.” His voice carried a rough edge, still fresh from battle.

“We’re reacting instead of planning.” A pause. “And that’s how we lose.”

Silence followed. Then Talon spoke. Talon leaned back slightly, his gaze distant for a moment before returning to them.

“Our elders have already searched the archives.” His tone was controlled-but there was frustration beneath it.

“They found nothing substantial.” He exhaled slowly. “No records. No detailed accounts. Just fragments. Mentions. Myths.”

Diana frowned slightly. “Nothing at all?”

Talon shook his head once.

“Not enough to build strategy on.” A pause. “And that raises another problem.”

His eyes darkened slightly.

“We don’t know if that’s because Silver Wolves are rare… Or because knowledge about them was deliberately erased.”

That thought-settled heavily.

Enzo let out a low breath.

“If it’s the second…”

He didn’t finish the sentence. He didn’t need to. Galvin did.

“Then someone didn’t want future generations to know what a Silver Wolf can do.”

Diana’s fingers tightened slightly at her side.

Artemis stirred. “They fear what we are.”

Diana didn’t voice it aloud. But she felt it.

Talon continued, quieter now.

“There are only a handful of recorded Silver Wolves throughout history.”

His gaze shifted to Diana.

“And they appear… centuries apart.” A pause. “Too far apart for anyone to retain living memory.”

Enzo nodded slowly. “So even if someone knew… They’re long gone.”

“And whatever they knew went with them,” Galvin added. Silence settled again.

Then-Diana spoke.

“There is someone.”

Her voice cut through the tension-not loud, but certain. All three of them looked at her.

“Someone who might know more than we do.”

Talon’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“Who?”

Diana didn’t hesitate. “Damon.”

The name dropped into the room like a stone into still water. Talon’s expression darkened immediately.

Galvin stiffened. Enzo went very still.

“Damon,” Talon repeated, his tone unreadable.

Diana held his gaze.

“Yes.”

Enzo frowned.

“Why him?”

Diana took a slow breath before answering.

“Because from the moment he found me… he didn’t react like someone who just discovered a powerful wolf.”

Her eyes sharpened slightly.

“He reacted like someone who had been looking for one.”

That shifted something.

Galvin straightened.

“You think he knew what you were?”

“I think,” Diana said carefully, “he knew enough to want me.” A pause. “And not just as an ally.”

Talon’s jaw tightened. But he didn’t interrupt.

Diana continued..

“He wasn’t guessing. He wasn’t curious. He was certain.”

Her voice lowered slightly.

“And that means… he knows something.”

Silence followed. Heavier now. More focused.

Enzo exhaled slowly. “And we didn’t push him for answers.”

“No,” Diana said. “Because at the time… we didn’t know what questions to ask.”

Galvin nodded. “But now we do.”

Talon leaned forward slightly, his gaze locked on Diana.

“You’re suggesting we go to the Rogue Kingdom.”

It wasn’t a question. Diana met his eyes.

“Yes.” A pause. “I think you’re going to get what you want, Talon.”

Her voice softened just slightly.

“We will have to travel there.”
