The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 796

Tara desperately wants to change the subject. The embarrassment is going to kill her if they keep talking about it.

"If a man is perfectly well-behaved around his partner, there's a serious problem. How about we test that out tonight?" Danny purrs.

"I am not your partner, so stop pushing your luck! And we are definitely not testing anything!" Tara snaps, brushing past him as she marches toward the lounge.

"You will be soon. I'm just waiting for you to make it official."

"Didn't I already give you a status update?" she counters. She had already promoted him to boyfriend.

"I'm talking about the ultimate upgrade. A marriage license."

Once he puts a ring on it, everything he wants to do to her will be perfectly legal. There was a time when Danny thought just being allowed to stand by her side and care for her would be enough. But now, he realizes he will never be satisfied. He wants all of her. He wants to marry her and grow old together.

His grandmother always warns him that he acts too desperate around Tara, but Danny doesn't care. He loves hovering around her, loves teasing her until she's mad, just so he can coax a smile out of her again.

After a few minutes of playful bickering in the lounge, Danny hands her a steaming cup of ginger tea.

"When I walked in, the main lock was totally busted. Did some idiot try to mess with you again?" Danny asks, his tone turning serious.

He knows Tara is too meticulous to just forget her clothes. And the hot water mysteriously cutting off at the exact same time? It doesn't take a genius to realize this was a coordinated sabotage.

"Who else could it be? Just that pathetic little white lotus making waves," Tara replies, her previously warm expression frosting over.

Jade had just been humiliated by her brothers and stripped of her status. Tara assumed the woman would slink away in defeat. She didn't expect Jade to pull a stunt like this. The security at this resort is clearly a joke if a lock can be picked that easily.
