"I never said you couldn't be here. Are you guys really that insecure?" Jade asks, forcing a calm smile.

Though she is seething inside, she desperately clings to the illusion of being unbothered. Her mother had drilled it into her head: to win an argument, you must project absolute superiority. Even when you're getting ripped apart, you have to look effortlessly in control. It's great advice in theory, but executing it is a completely different story.

Bianca watches Jade practically choking on her own rage while trying to act saintly, and she almost bursts out laughing at the sheer absurdity of it. Tara feels the exact same way.
