Jovani stares at her phone screen, scoffing. "Hmph, men really are unreliable. I have to take the initiative myself."

She has a collection of audio recordings and intimate photos of Charles. Though they haven't actually gone all the way, she has manipulated him enough to gather plenty of compromising material. She refuses to wait any longer. Relying on a man to naturally fulfill his promises just means waiting until her hair turns gray.

Her gaze sharpens with resolve as she paces the room, plotting her next move. Charles claims to love her, but in public and at the Dennis family estate, he puts on a sickeningly hypocritical face as a devoted husband.

Jovani sneers inwardly, tosses her phone onto the bed, and heads into her walk-in closet to pick out a gown.

Jade wanders in shortly after. Seeing her mother browsing through dresses, she asks curiously, "Mom, what are you doing? Are you going to a party?"

"Yes. It's been a while since I've attended a private gathering or banquet. I need to make an appearance."

Back when they lived abroad, Jovani navigated high-society banquets effortlessly. But ever since returning and attaching herself to Charles, she was reduced to the silent, supportive woman hidden in his shadow. She could never be satisfied with that. Of course, her submissive act is merely a facade for Charles. Behind his back, she has actively interfered with the Dennis Group's affairs.

"This party isn't suitable for you. It's mostly older socialites. You'd just find it boring," Jovani replies, having no intention of bringing Jade along to ruin her schemes.

"But you can still take me! It's good to network with people from different age groups," Jade argues. She figures some of these wealthy older women might be simple-minded but loaded with money and resources, making them easy targets to manipulate.

"You don't need to lower yourself to please them. It won't do you much good," Jovani says soothingly. "Don't worry, Mom is definitely going to pave a golden path for you. Our time suffering in the Dennis family is strictly temporary."
