The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 619

"Of course, Uncle," Julianna replies smoothly, stepping up to the bedside.

She picks up the half-empty vial, tilting it to observe the liquid before bringing it to her nose. She sniffs. She frowns. She sniffs again. Minutes tick by, and yet, her mind draws an absolute blank.

"Well?" Gregory presses. "Is there an issue with the formula?" Considering his mother began vomiting blood immediately after ingesting it, his suspicion is entirely justified.

The direct question makes Julianna's stomach knot with panic. She has absolutely no idea what is in this vial. The liquid gives off a rich, herbal fragrance intertwined with a bizarre, indescribable undertone. The fluid itself is an unsettling, inky black with a faint, iridescent purple sheen. It looks incredibly complex, clearly forged using highly unorthodox methods and rare ingredients.

"Miss Sinclair, your uncle asked you a question," Tara says, her tone light and thoroughly unbothered. She makes no move to hide her proprietary blend. In fact, she is deeply amused, genuinely curious to see if the supposed prodigy can decipher even a fraction of it. "Why don't you enlighten everyone with the exact recipe?"

"I..." Julianna's perfectly painted lips part, but nothing comes out.

Assuming her sister is just being polite, Bonnie urges her on. "Don't hold back because of her, Julianna! If there's poison in there, say it loud and clear!"

Unfortunately, Julianna still has nothing to say.

"Yeah? Are you going to be bold and tell us what you found?" Tara asks, a mocking smile playing on her lips. She pauses, letting the silence stretch before adding, "Don't tell me you actually can't identify a single thing?"

Desperate to mask her failure, Julianna swiftly pivots the narrative. "These ingredients are all intensely cold in nature. They are entirely unsuitable for someone in Grandma's fragile state. That is undoubtedly why she suffered such a violent reaction."

The moment the words leave her mouth, Bonnie seizes them like a loaded gun.

"I knew it!" Bonnie screams, pointing a shaking finger at Tara. "You did this on purpose! You're trying to murder my grandmother! You knew she was weak, and you fed her a lethal dose of cold-natured drugs under the guise of treating her! You want her dead!"

She gasps dramatically, a malicious light sparking in her eyes. "This is about the engagement, isn't it?! You're furious that my grandmother arranged the marriage alliance between Julianna and Danny! You hold a grudge, so you want to kill her to permanently destroy the alliance between the Sinclairs and the Calhouns! That's why you insisted you could cure her instead of letting her get surgery!"
