Chapter 270: Nadina Move-1

Bella POV

I stood by the kitchen island, holding Victor against my shoulder. The morning sunlight filtered through the large windows, warming the hardwood floor. L-patted Victor’s back gently, listening to his soft, rhythmic breathing as he started to drift off to sleep.

The sharp, hurried click of high heels echoed down the hallway.

I turned my head. Lena stood in the kitchen doorway. She was holding her tablet tight against her chest. Her face was completely pale, her lips pressed into a thin, bloodless line. Lena never lost her composure, but right now, her hands were visibly shaking.

“Bella,” Lena said, her voice tight and strained. “You need to see this. Right now.”

I frowned, shifting Victor slightly in my arms. “What is it, Lena? Is it the Marchetti Group?”

“No,” Lena said, stepping forward. She tapped the screen of her tablet and set it down on the marble island. “It’s Nadina Volkova. She just went live on a major news outlet. It’s broadcasting everywhere.”

I leaned over the counter, my eyes scanning the screen.

A video was playing. A prominent news anchor sat opposite Nadina Volkova. Nadina was dressed in a soft cream blouse, her eyes red and tearful, though her makeup was flawless. Underneath her face, a thick red banner flashed across the screen:

AND SYSTEMATIC SILENCING.

I felt the air leave my lungs. My heart hammered against my ribs as Nadina began to speak.

“Being a woman in a corporate setting is incredibly hard,” she said on the screen, her voice trembling perfectly for the camera. “You work twice as hard just to be heard, only for powerful men to look at you as prey. Caleb Black was the number one offender. He cornered me in a hotel room during our European retreat. He tried to force himself on me. He tried to r**e me.”

“Oh, my God,” I whispered, my hand tightening on Victor’s back.

The interviewer on the screen leaned forward. “And what happened after you rejected his advances, Ms. Volkova?”

“I was terrified,” Nadina sobbed, wiping a tear from her cheek. “I wanted to keep my job, so I stayed silent. But the Black family, in conjunction with the Marchetti family, found out. They teamed up to silence me completely. They terminated my contract, blacklisted me from the industry, and threatened to ruin my entire life and career if I ever spoke out.”

The room suddenly tilted. The bright kitchen spun around me, the light turning into a blinding smear. My knees buckled, giving out beneath my weight.

“Bella!” Lena cried.

Before I could hit the floor, Lena lunged forward, catching me by the shoulders. She held me steady, taking

Victor’s weight as I gripped the edge of the kitchen island to keep myself upright.

“Breathe, Bella. Just breathe,” Lena ordered, her voice trembling. “I’ve got you. I’ve got Victor.”

I forced air into my lungs, my eyes locking onto the blank wall. “She’s lying. It’s a complete lie.”

“I know,” Lena said softly, helping me stand up straight. “We all know it’s a lie. But the internet is already exploding. The stock market is responding. It’s a total frenzy.”

Before I could answer, the front door slammed open with a deafening crash that echoed down the hallway. Heavy, frantic footsteps stormed toward the kitchen.
