I paused, looking at the screen. I had not texted Olivier yet. I knew my eldest son would respond with cold questions and suspicion. He would want to know the legal implications, the business structures, and how this affected the Marchetti Group. He was too much like me in business, but he lacked the wisdom to see what truly mattered.

I will deal with Olivier when we land in Lyon. Just be ready.

I closed the phone and placed it in my pocket. The car rolled smoothly through the gates of the private

airport terminal, coming to a stop directly on the asphalt near the gleaming white fuselage of my private

jet.

The twin engines were already humming quietly, a low vibration that traveled through the ground.

The driver opened my door, and I stepped out into the night.

The wind was stronger here on the tarmac, blowing my hair across my forehead. I looked up at the stairs of the aircraft.

My life had completely changed in the span of months, years ago, I lost Elaine. Tonight, our daughter called me dad. I was going to bring my family together, whether Olivier liked it or not.

I climbed the stairs into the warm, quiet cabin of the jet, ready to fly. As soon as I stepped inside, the flight attendant took my coat with a polite nod.

“Good evening, Mr. Marchetti,” she said softly. “Can I get you something to drink before takeoff?”

“Just black coffee, thank you,” I said, sitting down in my usual seat.

I pulled out my phone again. The flight to Paris would be short, but my mind was moving too fast to rest.

I opened my sss and found the secure folder containing the document. It was the detailed file my private investigators had compiled regarding Bella’s past, her struggles, and her sudden rise to power.

I scrolled through the text, reading the names of the people who had hurt my daughter, Richard, Jade and Margaret Hart.

The pilot’s voice came over the intercom, breaking my thoughts. “Mr. Marchetti, we are cleared for takeoff. Please ensure your seatbelt is fastened. Next stop, Paris.”

“Understood,” I murmured to myself, clicking the belt into place.

The plane began to taxi down the runway, then the engines roared to life. The powerful push forced me back into my seat as the aircraft lifted into the dark sky. The city lights below shrunk into tiny dots of gold.

Twenty minutes later, the flight attendant set the hot coffee on the small table beside me. “Here you go, sir. We will be landing in Paris shortly. Young Mr. Enzo has already arrived at the terminal and is waiting for

us.”

“Thank you,” I said, taking a sip. The bitter heat helped clear my head.
