The battle had been fierce, the air thick with the scent of blood and fury. Caleb had been deep in the heart of the conflict, his Lycan form a towering nightmare of muscle and rage, when the first flicker of something wrong had brushed against the edges of his consciousness.
But… after the things became stable and he shifted back; a wave of missed calls made his heart stop for a second… and when he heard his father’s words… he just lost it.
The journey back to the castle was a blur of desperation and speed. Caleb moved with a speed
that was impossible to comprehend, his massive paws pounding against the earth as he raced
through forests and fields, his mind focused on a single thought: Iva, Iva, Iva.
His aura was suffocating-a wave of pure, primal fury that made lesser wolves cower in his wake.
The few wolves he passed on his journey felt his presence and fled, their instincts screaming at
them to get out of his way.
Caleb didn’t care.
Finally, the castle loomed before him.
Caleb burst through the gates of the Lycan Royal Castle in his full Lycan form, his massive body a
terrifying sight. His fur was matted with blood and dirt, his eyes blazing with a rage that made the
guards step back in fear. His chest heaved with ragged breaths, his claws leaving deep gouges in
the stone floor as he stalked through the corridors.
The servants and guards scattered before him, their faces pale with fear. He paid them no
attention.
He reached the war room and shifted back to his human form in a single, fluid movement, his body shaking with exhaustion and fury.
A servant rushed forward with a robe, draping it over his naked form with trembling hands. Caleb
barely noticed.
“Any progress?” he demanded, his voice raw and desperate. “Tell me you found her.”
The King and Queen stood before him, their faces grim. The King’s eyes were heavy with
exhaustion.
“Not yet,” the King said, his voice heavy with regret. “But we’ve made progress. We’ve identified the

culprits-the staff members who colluded with the kidnappers. We’re rounding them up now, bet
most of them are on the run. They know the gravity of what they’ve done. They know there will be
no mercy.”
Caleb’s jaw tightened.
“And the intelligence? What have you found?”
The King shook his head slowly.
“Too many leads. Since Iva became Crown Princess, there have been eyes on her from all
directions. We don’t know if her identity as the Messenger has been leaked, and we can’t rule
anything out. But the chain of events suggests this was premeditated. It was planned well in
advance. It’s almost like they knew you would leave.”
Caleb’s face grew darker, his eyes blazing with cold fury.
“Because they did know,” he said, his voice low and deadly. “When I reached the pack, it was chaos. Internal struggles. Alpha Calin’s factions clashing with those loyal to Meriem’s father, especially after the news of her survival reached them. Rogues attacked, causing destruction before fleeing.
It was like a perfect storm. Too well-coordinated. Almost like it was designed to lure us away.”
The King’s eyes widened, his expression shifting from exhaustion to horror.
“Are you saying-”
Caleb’s voice was a snarl.
“Yes. The attack and Iva’s kidnapping are connected. This wasn’t coincidence. This was a plan. A trap designed to separate me from Iva so they could take her.”
The King’s face went pale.
“Who? Who would do this?”
Caleb’s eyes blazed with a cold, terrible fire.
“I don’t know yet. But I will find out. And when I do, I will make them pay.”

The dungeon was cold, damp, and reeked of fear.
Few hours later, Caleb stood in the center of the interrogation chamber, his chest heaving, his hands still stained with the blood of the battle he had left behind. His eyes were wild, his composure shattered, his voice raw from hours of shouting.
Before him, chained to a heavy iron chair, sat one of the accomplices-a young wolf with a terrified

face and trembling hands. He had been one of the staff members who had helped smuggle Iva out
of the castle. He had been found hiding in a cheap inn on the outskirts of the kingdom, trying to
flee before the net closed around him.
Caleb’s voice was low and deadly.
“Tell me where she is.”
The young wolf’s eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape that didn’t exist.
“I don’t know,” he stammered. “I swear, I don’t know. They never told me where they were taking
her. I was just supposed to-”
“Supposed to what?” Caleb’s voice rose, cracking with barely contained fury. “Supposed to help them take my mate? Supposed to betray your kingdom?”
The young wolf’s face went pale.
“I didn’t have a choice,” he pleaded. “The doctors said my sister was dying. They said they would help her-they would pay for her treatment-but only if I did what they asked.”
Caleb’s eyes blazed.
“So you sold the Crown Princess for money? For a cure you weren’t even sure would come?”
The young wolf shook his head frantically.
“No! I mean-I didn’t-I thought it would be a small thing. Just leave a door unlocked. Just look the other way. I didn’t know they were going to-I didn’t think-”
Caleb’s fist slammed against the wall beside the young wolf’s head, the impact sending a crack
through the stone.
“You didn’t think?” he snarled. “You didn’t think that helping kidnap the Crown Princess might have
consequences? You didn’t think that your actions would lead to this?”
The young wolf began to sob.
“Please. Please don’t hurt me. I’ll tell you everything I know-”
“You already said you don’t know where she is,” Caleb snapped. “So tell me something useful. Who hired you? Who organized this? How did they contact you?”
The young wolf’s voice was barely a whisper.
“I don’t know. I never saw them face to face. Everything was arranged through messages- anonymous, always different. The money was left in drops. Cash. Untraceable. I don’t even know who I was working for.”

Caleb’s hands clenched at his sides.
“And the other accomplices?”
The young wolf shook his head.
“I never met them. I don’t know who they are or where they went. We were all kept separate. They
didn’t trust us.”
Hours passed.
