The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 353

Unexpected Match

The ballroom was alive with the golden glow of candlelight and the soft murmur of contented conversation. Couples swirled across the dance floor, their laughter mingling with the music that drifted through the air like a gentle breeze. The display board continued to pulse with new matches, each one sending ripples of joy through the assembled wolves.

Iva stood near the center of the hall, her hand resting on her growing belly, her eyes scanning the crowd with a sense of profound satisfaction. The evening had been a triumph-beyond anything she had dared to hope for. More than fifty couples had been matched, their fates intertwined by the invisible threads that only she could see. The kingdom would never be the same.

And then, she saw her mother.

Rana was radiant.

She moved through the crowd with a grace that seemed almost ethereal, her dark emerald gown catching the candlelight and shimmering like a pool of deep forest water. The fabric hugged her curves in all the right places, its elegant cut accentuating her natural beauty. Her hair, streaked with silver, was swept up in an elaborate style that revealed the graceful line of her neck. Her smile was warm, genuine, and utterly captivating.

Iva felt her breath catch.

She had never seen her mother look so… alive. So vibrant. So free.

Rana approached, her arm linked with that of a familiar figure-Lori’s mother, Maria Thompson. Beside them walked Lori’s father, Saul, his face beaming with pride and contentment.

“Darling,” Rana said, her voice warm with affection. “You look absolutely stunning tonight. That gown is breathtaking on you.”

Iva laughed, reaching out to embrace her mother.

“You’re one to talk,” she said, pulling back to admire her. “You’re absolutely radiant. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so beautiful.”

Rana’s cheeks flushed.

The four of them stood together, their conversation flowing easily, their laughter mingling with the music. They spoke of the ball, of the matches, of the future that lay ahead. Rana’s hand found Iva’s, squeezing gently.

“I’m so proud of you,” Rana murmured. “Everything you’ve accomplished tonight… it’s remarkable.”

Iva squeezed back.

“I couldn’t have done it without you,” she said. “Without your support. Your strength. You’ve been my rock, Mother.”

Rana’s eyes shone with unshed tears.

“I’ve always believed in you,” she said. “From the very beginning. And I always will.”

The conversation continued, warm and meaningful, filled with words of love and support. Lori’s parents spoke of their pride in their daughter, of their hopes for her future, of the joy they felt seeing her happy.

Iva listened, her heart full.

And then, she froze.

Iva’s throat went dry.

She felt paralyzed, frozen in place, unable to speak or move. Her mind was a hurricane of thoughts-shock, confusion, disbelief, and beneath it all, a flicker of fierce protectiveness.

Her mother had been through so much. She had suffered, struggled, and fought to rebuild her life after years of pain. She had finally found peace, finally found happiness, finally found herself.

And now, this.

Iva looked back at the man by the fountain. He was still speaking, still unaware of the thread that connected him to her mother. He looked kind. Gentle. The kind of man who would treat her mother with the respect and love she deserved.

But was she ready?

Was she ready to open her heart again?

Iva didn’t know.

But she knew one thing with absolute certainty.

Her mother deserved happiness.

And she would do whatever it took to help her find it.
