Crown’s Protection-3
Iva instinctively straightened, her heart racing all over again.
Caleb’s arm tightened slightly at her side.
The king stepped forward.
Each step echoed.
Measured.
Deliberate.
The entire room seemed to hold its breath as he approached, stopping just a few feet away from her.
Up close, his presence was overwhelming.
Iva had faced alphas before… but this was something entirely different.
This was a ruler.
This was dominance refined into something absolute.
For a long moment, he said nothing.
He simply looked at her.
Studied her.
Weighed her.
And Iva felt it like a physical pressure, as if he was trying to peel back every layer of her existence, searching for weakness, for deception, for anything that would contradict what he had just witnessed.
Her pulse thundered in her ears.
But she did not look away.
She couldn’t.
Wouldn’t.
Finally, he spoke.
“So.”
His voice was deep, controlled, carrying effortlessly through the silence.
“You are the girl who has turned this kingdom upside down.”
Not an accusation.
Not quite a compliment either.

Crown’s Protection-?
A statement.
tva parted her lips, then closed them again briefly, having no idea how she could reply to this.
“A Messenger,” he continued, almost thoughtfully. “And… my son’s mate.”
The weight of those words settled heavily in the room.
Iva felt heat rise to her face, but she kept her composure,
“Yes.”
This time, her answer was firm.
“Do you understand what that means?”
The question wasn’t simple.
It wasn’t about titles.
It was about consequences.
Iva hesitated.
Not because she didn’t have an answer-but because she knew there was no safe answer.
“It means… responsibility,” she said carefully. “Not just for myself… but for others.”
A pause.
Then she added, quieter but no less certain-
“And sacrifice.”
Something flickered in the king’s eyes.
Approval?
Perhaps.
But it vanished too quickly to be sure.
Before he could respond, the Queen stepped forward.
す
Her movement was graceful, but purposeful, as she approached directly.
Kindly.
“May I?” she asked softly, though her hand was already lifting.
Iva blinked, surprised, but nodded.
The Queen gently reached out, brushing a strand of hair away from Iva’s face, her touch light, almost maternal-but her eyes… her eyes were searching just as deeply as the king’s had been.
“So young,” the Queen murmured, almost to herself.

Her gaze softened slightly as she studied Iva’s features, then shifted briefly to Caleb-standing close, Tense, watchful.
Then back to Iva.
“You have been through much already, haven’t you?”
The question wasn’t probing.
It was knowing.
And that… that nearly broke Iva’s composure.
She swallowed hard, conflicted.
“…Yes.”
The Queen nodded faintly, as if that confirmed something for her.
“Mom has empath abilities.” Caleb added for her ears, as his mother smirked at him when he spoke.
She withdrew her hand slowly, then turned slightly toward the king.
For a brief moment, something unspoken passed between them.
Then King William spoke again.
“Whatever doubts existed,” he said, his tone now firm, carrying authority across the chamber, “are no longer relevant.”
A ripple went through the council.
“The true Messenger stands before us.”
His gaze returned to Iva.
“And as such… you are no longer just a lone wolf.”
The weight of his next words pressed down like a decree.
“You are under the protection of the Crown.”
Iva’s breath caught.
“And,” he added, glancing briefly at Caleb before returning to her, “you will be treated accordingly.”
