Julian and Charley turned around. Seeing Garnett standing under the corridor, their expressions darkened simultaneously.
Julian spoke coldly. "Garnett, Tobin is your friend, isn't he? I'd actually like to ask you, why is your friend slandering my cousin? Why spread rumors like this on a day of celebration for our family?"
"What I mean is, Tobin doesn't have a motive to do this." Garnett stepped forward. "What benefit does he get from doing this? People only do things if there's something in it for them, right?"
"Tobin has always lusted after Lavinia," Charley stated.
Garnett froze completely. Julian also turned his gaze to Charley.
"What did you say?" Garnett's jaw tightened into a hard line.
Charley's voice was ice. "I said, your 'good friend' Tobin has always lusted after Lavinia."
He paused. "When Lavinia was working at Bionera Biosciences, the chairman invited Tobin to dinner and brought her along. Tobin forced her to drink and intentionally poured wine all over her. Mr. Harper, didn't you show up that night too?"
Julian narrowed his eyes, looking at Garnett. "Is this true?"
"The moment Mr. Harper arrived, he humiliated Lavinia, calling her cheap. Later, he left her standing by the side of the road, covered in wine stains, and drove off with Sigrid. Lavinia's clothes were completely soaked."
Charley paused, his voice dropping an octave. "I remember, the wind was biting that night."
"Garnett, is this what you did?" Julian, who usually possessed a perfectly tranquil demeanor, now had his chest heaving as he struggled to suppress his surging fury.
Garnett's eyes turned red. But he couldn't refute Charley, because that was exactly what he had done.
