As evening approached, Lavinia changed into an elegant mermaid-style evening gown and let Charley lead her aboard a private yacht.
The dress was adorned with crystals and sequins that shimmered like sunlight on water. Lavinia pulled off the look effortlessly, resembling a beautiful mermaid.
Her long hair was swept into a low side bun with a few loose tendrils framing her face, perfectly accentuating her graceful neck.
A delicate, diamond-tassel necklace rested perfectly against her collarbone. The understated design complemented the gown beautifully without overpowering it.
The dress and jewelry were both courtesy of top-tier international designers. Charley had prepared this well in advance, waiting for the exact day she regained her freedom to give her a grand, ceremonial fresh start.
He wore a sharp tuxedo that made him look even taller and leaner, exuding an air of sophisticated confidence.
The yacht belonged to Charley. Though built for the open ocean, tonight it merely cruised along the river. While the last light of day lingered, the two of them stood at the bow, taking in the sunset.
The sky was painted in vibrant hues, and the city lights began to twinkle to life. Surrounded by the vast river and the sprawling cityscape, Lavinia felt her heart open up, suffused with a deep, lingering warmth.
Once night fully fell, the yacht glowed brilliantly. Charley and Lavinia shared a candlelit dinner on the deck as the boat drifted closer to the riverbank, approaching the towering 'Lavinia SOHO' building.
It suddenly occurred to Lavinia that the Harper family had been trying to buy this very building before someone had swooped in and outbid them.
"Don't tell me you bought it," she said, looking at him.
Charley simply smiled and raised a hand. A waiter approached carrying a silver tray blanketed in fresh flowers. Nestled among the petals was a contract bound in red leather.
Resting directly on top of the contract was an incredibly flashy crystal wand.
"What is all this?" Lavinia felt a sudden prickle of goosebumps, instantly recalling the bizarre, over-the-top light show confession that had been projected onto this very building.
Charley picked up the wand, gave it a skeptical look, and set it aside. He handed her the contract first.
"You own a portion of this property."
"What?" Lavinia stared at him, stunned.
