Lucian glanced at her, offering a faint smile.

Lavinia walked quickly, tightly hugging the paper bag full of flowers. Charley stayed right beside her, repeatedly murmuring, "Lavinia, just listen to me."

Annoyed by his persistence, she suddenly stopped and glared at him.

"Lavinia, I—"

Before Charley could finish, Lavinia shoved the massive bag into his chest. "It's too heavy. Carry it for me."

He blinked, obediently taking the bag.

"Hold it steady. Don't spill a single drop of my coffee," she ordered.

"Um, okay," Charley agreed dutifully.

Lavinia walked a few paces slowly. "Don't spill it."

"I won't."

Suddenly, she bolted. She weaved gracefully through the crowd, running faster than a rabbit. She was confident in her sprinting speed—after all, her dream had once been to be an ER doctor, so she had trained for moments like this.

Charley stood rooted to the spot, watching her disappear with a helpless sigh.

...

Lavinia ran for five solid minutes until she was completely out of breath. She glanced back and saw no sign of Charley.

She let out a sigh of relief.

Turning around to continue on her way, she nearly jumped out of her skin. Standing right in front of her was a tall, familiar figure, calmly holding the bag of yellow roses.

"How did you catch up?" Lavinia gasped.

Charley stepped forward, pulled the coffee out of the LinaBell plush's arms, and handed it to her. "Your coffee. Not a drop spilled."

Did this guy have superpowers?

She took the cup. His voice drifted down from above. "Will you listen to my explanation now?"

Lavinia pressed her lips together, still irritated. "Fine. Let's hear your excuses."
