The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 305

Travis Lambert, the Chairman of Celestial Capital, unexpectedly called Lavinia in for a meeting to discuss transferring her to the Post-Investment Management Department. Ethan was also being moved and promoted to Assistant Director of the department.

It wasn't until she walked out of Travis's office that Lavinia noticed a new text message on her phone. It was from the civil registry:

"A procedural flaw? Legally voided?!" she gasped in a low whisper.

Lavinia stood frozen for a long moment, initially suspecting it was some sort of phishing scam. But after making a quick phone call to verify, she realized it was absolutely real.

She immediately found an empty corner and dialed Garnett's number.

"Did you get the text from the registry? What on earth is going on?" Lavinia demanded, her voice tight with panic.

"Lavinia, I just got the text too. It seems there was an issue with our ID documents, so the filing was invalidated," Garnett replied smoothly.

"How could an ID document be invalid?" Lavinia asked.

"I only just found out myself. I haven't had the time to look into the specifics yet," Garnett said.

Lavinia fell silent for a long moment before her tone dropped to ice. "You played me?"

"I played you?" Garnett let out a short, dark laugh. "Why don't you go ask Lucian Roche?"

"Mr. Roche? What does he have to do with any of this?" Lavinia was completely lost.

There was a noticeable pause on the other end. "You genuinely don't know?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Lavinia snapped, thoroughly irritated. "I'm booking a new appointment. We're reapplying."

The line went silent for a very long time.

"Lavinia, I don't want a divorce. From beginning to end, I never wanted a divorce. You're the one who kept pushing me."

"I pushed you? Do you have amnesia?" Lavinia practically shouted.

Garnett's voice grew heavy, carrying a pleading edge.

"Lavinia, I know I handled things terribly in the past, but I've genuinely reflected on everything. I'll be the perfect husband. We'll be happy. Just love me a little longer. I just need you to love me a little bit longer."

Garnett Harper was actually backing out!

Lavinia was beyond furious.

After doing so many things to hurt her, now he was claiming he didn't want a divorce?
