The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 300

His own family was tearing itself apart.

Leveraging her pregnancy, Zenia was throwing daily tantrums at the estate, demanding a massive chunk of equity. When denied, she showed up at corporate headquarters crying and making a scene.

Everything was hitting him at once. Wave after wave of crisis crashing down, leaving him entirely unable to breathe.

*Knock, knock.*

The door to the CEO's office opened.

Corinne walked in, her face grave. "Mr. Harper, the entity buying up our shares on the secondary market... they've revealed themselves."

Garnett looked up sharply. "Who is it?"

"Lucian Roche."

Garnett's brows snapped together into a hard knot.

"He's waiting outside right now," Corinne added hesitantly. "Do you want to see him?"

Garnett let out a dark, icy laugh.

"The man practically kicked my door down. Do I have a choice?" He paused, straightening up. "Send him in. And bring us the good coffee."

Lucian Roche strolled into the room. Wearing a tailored charcoal suit and silver-rimmed glasses, his movements were relaxed and unhurried, as if he were attending a casual afternoon tea.

The two men stared at each other across the massive mahogany desk for a long, heavy moment before Garnett finally gestured toward the seating area.

"Have a seat."

Lucian took a seat on the sofa. Corinne silently set down two cups of coffee and retreated, clicking the door shut behind her.

"Why are you buying up Harper Group stock?" Garnett asked, cutting straight to the point.

"It's an excellent investment." Lucian picked up his coffee, blowing on it leisurely. "The stock price is currently suppressed, with massive room for future growth. At SSA, we firmly believe the Harper Group has a very bright future under your leadership."

Garnett narrowed his eyes, his gaze razor-sharp. "Just business, then?"

Lucian ignored the question. Placing his cup back on the saucer, he pivoted effortlessly.

"You've had a lot on your plate recently, haven't you, Mr. Harper?"

"In this line of work, dealing with crises is part of the daily routine. There's no such thing as 'too much on my plate'," Garnett replied, his tone perfectly flat.

"Is that right?" Lucian offered a polite smile. "Because I heard you and your father are on the verge of all-out war. If you fail to secure the chairmanship at this upcoming board meeting, you might not even keep your position as CEO. I also heard the Jenkins family publicly pledged their support to you, but privately struck a deal to vote for your father."

Lucian locked eyes with Garnett, delivering the final blow with absolute calm. "Mr. Harper, you are in an incredibly precarious position."

Garnett leaned back, casually crossing one leg over the other, though his fingers dug subtly into his own knee. His voice remained cool. "And what do you suggest I do, Mr. Roche?"
