Right before clocking out, Lavinia received a call from Zenia Ford. She demanded a meeting, and her tone left no room for negotiation.
Lavinia arrived at the June House right on time. The private room was on the second floor. When she pushed the door open, Zenia was already seated inside.
She was wearing a loose maternity dress, one hand resting protectively over her stomach. She leaned back lazily against her chair, her chin tilted up in a display of utter arrogance.
"Are you expecting, Mrs. Harper?" Lavinia asked with a polite smile as she took her seat.
Zenia jutted her chin higher. "Don't underestimate this baby just because it's coming late. He is a legitimate heir to the Harper legacy. He'll outrank you entirely—in fact, you'll have to show him the utmost respect."
Lavinia glanced briefly at the woman's perfectly flat stomach.
"I have a medical background, Mrs. Harper. At this stage, you can't even tell the gender. For all we know, it could be an ectopic pregnancy."
Zenia's face twisted in fury. She slammed her hand onto the table, making the teacups rattle violently.
Catching herself, she immediately clutched her stomach, her voice shrill. "You're doing this on purpose! I am dealing with a high-risk pregnancy. If anything happens to this baby, my husband will destroy you!"
Watching her pathetic theatrical display, Lavinia replied coldly, "If you know you're high-risk, you shouldn't be running around. If you're in this fragile state and your husband is still using you as his attack dog, it seems he doesn't value this baby as much as you think."
Zenia gritted her teeth, practically vibrating with rage.
She never expected the meek, soft-spoken Lavinia—who rarely even raised her voice—to suddenly grow such vicious fangs.
Sneering, Zenia shot back, "I always knew people from your background lacked basic breeding."
Lavinia picked up her teacup, took a slow sip, and set it down delicately. "What exactly do you want? Say your piece and go home to rest. I don't have time for a shakedown."
Zenia pulled a document from her designer bag and tossed it onto the table.
It was the *Supplementary Marital Property Agreement*.
Zenia pushed the contract forward, tapping a manicured nail on the signature line. "Sign this, and you'll still get ten percent of Judith's money. For someone as poor as you, that's more cash than you could make in ten lifetimes."
She let out a cruel chuckle, clearly savoring the tension on Lavinia's face. "Take my advice. Don't get greedy."
Lavinia picked up the agreement, flipped directly to the last page, signed her name in quick, fluid strokes, and set the pen down.
Zenia snatched the papers back, inspecting the signature with a victorious smirk.
She tucked the folder into her bag, stood up, and looked down her nose at Lavinia.
"I used to look down on you, but I have to admit, I'm impressed. Garnett never cared about you, so you immediately spun around and dug your claws into Lucian Roche."
Zenia scoffed. "Honestly, he suits you better than Garnett ever did. Keep up the good work."
