Garnett's voice turned icy. "Are you really not going?"
Zenia remained silent.
"Zenia, a while back, your brother used your name to register a shell company and bid on one of our group's projects. I heard he gave the procurement director quite a few kickbacks. I've already handed that director over to the relevant authorities, and we're preparing to press charges for commercial bribery."
Garnett paused, quietly taking in the terror spreading across Zenia's face.
"Tell me, should I have your brother sent away too?" He arched an eyebrow.
Zenia grit her teeth and slowly stood up. "I have a spare key. I'll go get it right now."
Garnett watched her walk away, then turned to look at his grandmother. He was met with a pair of sharply calculating eyes.
His heart skipped a beat.
The old lady had been acting. She was testing him to see just how filial and loyal he truly was.
Judith was Judith, through and through—forever the legendary woman from the formidable Gilmore family.
"Grandmother, I..."
Before he could finish, Zenia returned with the key. She looked absolutely sick to her stomach, thoroughly unwilling, yet forced to offer the key up with both hands.
"Maeve," Judith commanded coldly, "move all of my belongings back into my room and lock them in our own safe."
"Yes, Ms. Judith." Maeve took the key from Zenia's hand.
"Garnett, help me back to my room," Judith said.
"Of course, Grandmother. Take it slow." Garnett supported her arm as they headed up the stairs.
The two of them sat down and exchanged a few pleasantries.
Judith asked Garnett when his wife was returning to the country, mentioning how much she missed Lavinia. Garnett quickly lied, saying Lavinia was already back and that he would bring her over to visit in a few days.
Before long, Maeve entered with several of the Gilmores' veteran staff, carrying jewelry boxes. Judith instructed them to place the items on the table for now.
"Alright, Grandmother. I'll do exactly as you say," Garnett replied, his voice deep. "When Lavinia finds out, she'll be deeply grateful to you."
Judith smiled. "Garnett, I've seen countless people in my life. The wife I picked out for you is the right one. You need to cherish her properly. Otherwise, you'll deeply regret it someday."
"Don't worry, Grandmother," Garnett forced a smile. "I'll make sure you're holding your great-grandson by next year."

After Garnett left, Judith called Maeve back into the room and asked, "Lavinia isn't staying at the Arden Estate anymore?"
"No, the young madam and the young master have been separated for a while now," Maeve said, her brow furrowing.
Judith let out a weary sigh. "Maeve, arrange a meeting with Lavinia for me. It's time I stepped in and did what needs to be done."
She paused. "The Gilmore family never leaves a debt unpaid."
Maeve nodded. "Yes, Ms. Judith."
