Summer POV

I watched Lyric leave for that stupid prom with Lucas. Mason gave me a dumb reason why he couldn’t take me, saying only juniors,

taking senior classes were allowed to attend the prom this year. It doesn’t matter; I blackmailed a girl on the yearbook committee to

get any picture of Mason and Lyric she can find so I can see what’s really going on. It’s been two days since the prom; she should

have uploaded the pictures. I pull out my burner phone, and what I see makes my blood boil! Again, he’s kissing that freak. Good

thing tomorrow night is the day; I have everything planned. My stomach twists, not from surprise-but from how easy it looks. Like

he forgot everything I made him see about her. Like she didn’t spend years beneath me. Like I didn’t put her there. Like I didn’t

spend years conditioning her to know exactly where she belongs. I just need these four idiots to all play their parts tomorrow, and

he will never look at her the same way again. “Is everything set for tomorrow?” I link Nathaniel.

“Yes, everything is set,” he links back.

“Good,” I say, shutting the link.

“Summer, we still have time to stop this,” Serena says.

“I really wish you would shut up. It’s already happening. That bitch will pay for every ounce of attention she ever stole from me.

Mason is MINE,” I say to her, blocking her out. And for a second-just a second-1 can see it slipping. Him. That control I had over

him for years. He thought breaking up with me would change something. That’s not happening. Not now. Not ever.

I’ve been keeping her blocked more often; all she does is whine and tell me this is wrong. She is such a weak wolf. Hopefully, this

time she dies.

Unknown POV

Tomorrow is the day, and I am so nervous. I have been recording our conversations so I can take them to the alpha when the time is

right, if they don’t kill me first. Because the way Summer looked the last time-smiling while Lyric screamed-I already know what

she’s capable of. And I’m not stupid enough to think I’m different. If Summer can do this to her twin sister, imagine what she would

do to me for betraying her. I need to be careful tomorrow; so much is riding on my plan going right.

Lyric POV

It’s Thursday morning, one more day until graduation, and I can’t even bring myself to feel excited. Mason hasn’t said anything

about the picture, and that scares me more than anything. Because it means something already happened—and I’m the last one to know. Silence is never a good sign. Especially not from him. Mason doesn’t go quiet unless something is wrong-or he’s trying not to make it worse. And I don’t know which one this is. Today, that feeling of dread is so strong I can almost taste it. “Something is

happening today,” Nova says. Not later. Not soon. Today. I can feel it sitting heavy in my chest like a warning I don’t know how to

answer. “Yeah, that feeling is too intense,” I reply. I try to shake it off as much as I can, then Mason contacts me. “Sunflower,” his

voice sounds sad, like he has bad news. “What is it?” I respond. “Kasey said someone stole her camera,” he says, And just like that,

everything clicks into place in the worst way possible. Not a guess. Not a fear. A fact and I feel like the glass around my world

shatters. “NO,” I whisper. My heart starts racing so fast it feels wrong, like my body already knows what my mind is still trying to catch up to. That picture wasn’t supposed to leave that room. I throw on some clothes and run straight into the woods. I don’t

think. I don’t grab my phone. I don’t call anyone. I just move-because staying still suddenly feels like the worst thing I could

  1. Someone is following us Nova says. I stop and look around but I don’t see anything. The woods feel wrong. Too quiet. No birds. No movement. Just the sound of my own breathing-and even that feels too loud. I start running again, about ten minutes later i’m hit in the neck with something sharp. I slap at it and see it’s a dart and then everything fades to black.
