Chapter 158
Lyric POV
The next morning, Rhea brings me my breakfast, and she comes in with a woman that reminds me of Mary. She walks in and bows
low.
“Good morning, my Queen, my name is Agnes. I am the head Omega here,” she says.
“My little Rhea has told me about your problem. The Alpha told me it was supplements for your pregnancy, and would like to
apologize,” she says, voice low, neck bared.
“Rhea, please help me stand,” I say, my body slower than I want it to be, that heavy pull still sitting in my limbs. She walks over
help me up.
I walk over to Agnes and hug her.
“It is not your fault. You were doing what you were told,” I say to her.
“My sister is part of Moonveil Pack, and she said you are a beautiful girl who had a hard life. I didn’t know you were who we were
preparing food for,” she says.
My brows furrow. “Who is your sister?” I ask.
She smiles. “Her name is Mary. I believe she works in the kitchen also,” she says.
“That name lands heavier than I expect. That is why you reminded me of her when you walked in,” I say, smiling. “Mary was like a
second mom to me… well, actually a third,” I say, smiling, thinking about our Luna.
“For a second, I almost forget where I am. Almost.”
“So why are you here instead of in Moonveil with her?” I ask.
She smiles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. “My daughter is mated to the Alpha, and my mate and I were part of The Black Moon Pack
before they destroyed it. My mate was killed, but I couldn’t leave my daughter,” she says.
The tears fall immediately.
“I’m so sorry about your mate… and your daughter, since he obviously hasn’t accepted their bond,” I say.
“He just uses her for sex, my Queen,” she says, her own tears falling now.
My jaw tightens before I can stop it. That familiar heat creeps up-slow, controlled, dangerous.
I grab her hands in mine, determination in my voice.

Chapter 158
“I will get you back to your sister, and I will save your daughter from her own mate,” I say.
Not a promise I think about. One I decide.
She nods her head. “Thank you, my Queen. I will see to it that none of that stuff the Alpha gave us goes into your food, I was already not putting the yellow liquid because it didn’t look like something for the pups,” she says.
“I think that was the memory potion,” I say.
She brings her hands to her mouth. “Oh dear goddess, I’m so happy I went with my gut,” she says.
I smile at her. “So am I,” I say.
Because that one choice? That might’ve been the only thing he hasn’t taken from me.
“The Alpha said he will be coming to visit you today and that I can take you outside before then,” Rhea says.
My stomach drops, but my face doesn’t move. Not even a little.
“Is there a doctor here?” I ask.
They both look at each other.
“Yes, we have a doctor, but she is terrified of the Alpha,” Agnes says.
I nod, thinking.
“Terrified works. Terrified listens. That is fine, I can work with that. I need you to take me to her 10 minutes into our walk, Rhea,” I
say.
“I need to try to get her to trust me and tell David that my body is too weak for anything. I need to keep him from touching me as
long as I can,” I say.
The words sit wrong in my throat-but I don’t let them slow me down.
“I can help you with that,” Agnes says.
“Now eat, you need all the energy you can get,” she adds.
I sit on the bed and eat.
No hesitation. No pause. Just enough to keep moving.
I hope that whatever Cole is planning happens soon because I don’t know if we will be able to pull this off on our own
“I will go and talk to the doctor and some of the other rogues to gather as much support as you may need, because some of us were

forced into this rogue settlement and others are too afraid to leave,” Agnes says.
“Thank you, and I promise all of you will have a place to call home after this,” I say to her
And I mean every word.
“Thank you, my Queen,” she says before walking out of the room.
“I will let you eat and then get ready, and I will come back to get you soon,” Rhea says before walking out as well.
