A miserable, cold sneer twisted Nora's lips, but the violent churning in her stomach robbed her of the strength even to stand up straight.
Her legs gave out completely. The moment she tried to lift herself halfway, she collapsed entirely back down.
Her consciousness was teetering right on the edge of oblivion.
Seeing her so completely helpless and incapable of fighting back, Winston's grin grew wildly feral.
He casually tossed his glass onto the coffee table. His massive frame hauled itself off the opposite couch, and he advanced toward Nora, step by agonizing step.
"Mrs. Hayes, since you're so drunk, why don't I help you up to a guest room so you can get some proper rest? We can negotiate that raw stone contract in bed."
Winston's rough, pudgy hand viciously clamped down on Nora's slender wrist.
His other hand greedily groped straight for her waist.
Nora fought with every last ounce of her strength to rip herself away, desperate to grab the liquor bottle and smash it into his repulsive face.
But her nervous system, paralyzed by the lethal dose of drugs, refused to cooperate. Her arms hung uselessly, completely drained of power, and even a scream was trapped in her burning throat.
SMASH—!
A deafening crash suddenly exploded in the room.
The thick, heavy door was violently kicked open by an ungodly force from the outside.
The metal lock completely obliterated under the sheer impact, and the massive door slammed against the wall, sending a vicious echo through the space.
Every single sound in the room died instantly against the catastrophic noise.
Winston's hand froze in midair, his pudgy body violently flinching as he snapped his head toward the door.
Under the dim, flickering strobe lights.
Gideon Hayes, draped in a massive black trench coat, stormed past the threshold. The hem of his coat whipped furiously around his ankles, dragging a storm of pure ice into the room.
He looked like a literal god of death stepping straight out of hell, his terrifying, suffocating aura of murder and frost completely consuming the room.
