"Mr. Hayes suffered massive blunt force trauma to his back. He has multiple rib fractures and varying degrees of internal bleeding. We've completed the surgery and managed to stop the major hemorrhaging."

His tone was grave as he delivered the prognosis. "Mr. Hayes is not out of the woods yet. He needs to be transferred to the ICU for forty-eight hours of observation. If he wakes up within that window and his vitals remain stable, only then can we say he's survived the worst of it."
