"Look at yourself. Look what you've done to the Hayes family. To Mom and Dad."
Nathan let out a mocking scoff at her lifeless expression, his tone growing increasingly aggressive.
"If you have even a shred of human decency left, you'll get the hell out of this hospital right now and stay far away from Giselle."
He pointed a finger toward the center of the corridor, where Giselle was surrounded by people, crying until she could barely breathe.
"Stop being an eyesore. If you hadn't insisted on going to that rundown factory today, how could Mr. Hayes have ended up in an accident like this? Every time someone gets involved with you, disaster strikes the Hayes family. You're nothing but a curse."
"Nathan! How can you speak to your sister like that!"
Mrs. Xavier spun around, her eyes red as she snapped fiercely at him.
She never imagined that while his sister stood outside the emergency room, covered in blood after a near-death experience, her spoiled son would spew such vicious words.
"Shut your mouth! Your sister almost died in there today too!" Mrs. Xavier's voice trembled with emotion.
"Sister?"
Nathan raised his voice as if he'd just heard the funniest joke in the world, the disgust in his eyes tearing away any remaining pretense.
"I don't have a sister like her!"
He glared viciously at Nora, his chest heaving as he finally unleashed years of suppressed resentment.
"Dad, Mom, wake up and look at the facts! Ever since she was brought back from that slum on the west side, have we had a single day of peace? No!"
"She wandered the streets for years, and when she finally came back, she couldn't do a single thing right. She was tacky, couldn't even learn basic high-society etiquette, and utterly humiliated the Xavier family in our social circles!"
"And then she acted like a desperate lunatic who had never seen a man before, shamelessly throwing herself at Gideon. The whole Metropolis laughed behind our backs, mocking the Xavier family for begging for scraps and calling our daughter shameless!"
