The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 270

She frantically reached out, wanting to quickly turn off the speaker or just hang up the phone altogether.

Before her finger could touch the screen, a large, powerful hand reached over from the side and smoothly plucked the phone right out of her palm.

Nora froze for a second, turning to look.

At some unknown point, Gideon had completely composed himself.

The jealousy, agony, and devastation that had been plastered across his face after viewing Giselle's post were completely gone.

Aside from the lingering trace of crimson and hostility in his pitch-black eyes, he had donned his cold, ruthless, and emotionless corporate armor once again.

Gideon held Nora's phone up to his face and spoke calmly into the microphone.

"I understand, Mom. We'll be there."

On the other end, Mrs. Xavier clearly hadn't expected Gideon to suddenly jump in. She audibly gasped, her voice instantly stammering.

"G-Gideon. You're with Nora?"

"Yes, I just finished helping her pick out a gift. We're on our way back to the villa now."

Gideon's voice was ice-cold, betraying none of the violent turbulence Giselle had caused him.

Mrs. Xavier's tone instantly shifted to syrupy flattery. "That's wonderful, that's wonderful. Knowing you'll be there puts my mind at ease."

"I'm so happy for Nora that you're willing to make time in your busy schedule to accompany her home. Drive safe, now. I won't hold you up any longer. We'll see you at the house next month!"

"Alright," Gideon replied curtly.
