The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 156

Janie was young and fiery, her voice booming through the room. Her retort was swift and sharp, completely overpowering Giselle's shrieks.

In her entire life, Giselle had never been pointed at and cursed out by a bottom-tier assistant.

"Who do you think you are! A broke loser at the bottom of the barrel dares to lecture me!"

Giselle raised her hand, pointing right at Janie's face. "Sloane! Fire her right now! I'm going to make sure she never works in this industry again!"

Roaring in anger, Giselle raised her right hand, her red-painted nails flashing as she swung a vicious slap aimed straight at Janie's face.

Janie's reflexes were lightning fast. Raised in a normal household, she was feisty and definitely wasn't going to just stand there and take a hit. She grabbed Giselle's descending wrist with her left hand, wound her right arm back, and slapped Giselle across the face with every ounce of strength she had.

Slap!

A sharp, explosive sound echoed through the studio.

The force of the blow was massive. Giselle's head snapped to the side, her perfectly styled hair coming undone as loose strands clung to her cheek. A vivid, red handprint instantly swelled on the left side of her face.

Time seemed to freeze.

All the assistants gasped collectively. Sloane's legs gave out, and she collapsed back against a glass display case.

"Janie!" Nora cried out in shock.

Nora hadn't expected things to escalate to physical violence. She immediately grabbed Janie's arm and yanked the girl behind her.

Sloane let out a bloodcurdling scream, covering her mouth as she stared at Janie like she had just seen a ghost.

Every designer and employee in the vicinity looked as if someone had hit the pause button on their lives. The main hall was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, the silence only broken by Janie's heavy, angry panting.

"You... you dared to hit me?"
