It took over six months for the brutal media storm around her to finally die down.
Now, even if Queenie didn't want to admit it, she knew she was completely outmatched.
She had plotted for three years to ruin Stella's reputation, only for Stella to casually flick a domino that decimated her entire life.
No wonder Jonathan and Aurora were so terrified of her.
Queenie's only play was to temporarily ally with Aurora. They would team up to destroy Stella, and once the dust settled, Queenie would stab Aurora in the back. Two birds, one stone.
Stella smiled faintly, not bothering to deny it.
"Thank you for the compliment."
Queenie glared at her coldly. "You only sit at the head of the table because you're a thief, Stella. To Skyler, no matter how brilliant you are, you'll never be worth a fraction of Aurora."
A toxic, triumphant smirk curled Queenie's lips.
"Oh, did you not hear? At Shay's birthday party today, Skyler is transferring five percent of The Williams Group equity to her."
Because Queenie despised the Williams family and refused to mentally accept her role as Jonathan's wife, she never referred to Skyler as 'Father' in private.
Stella didn't even blink. Her expression remained completely undisturbed.
"Thanks for the heads-up," she replied smoothly. "But look at the time. Shall we walk and talk?"
Queenie had only approached her to ruin her day.
The sheer sight of Stella made her physically ill, so there was no way she was going to walk into the venue with her.
Queenie sneered, throwing out one last desperate barb.
Seeing that it was getting late, Stella left Queenie fuming on the path and leisurely made her way to the banquet hall.
Today was Shay's—McCoy and Aurora's daughter—third birthday.
The guest list was relatively tight, mostly restricted to core members of the Williams and Chapman families, along with a few close allies. It wasn't a massive spectacle.
With the endless string of humiliating scandals plaguing both families over the last few years, neither had the social capital to pull off a high-profile gala anyway.
The event was little more than a polished thank-you dinner for their remaining supporters.
Even so, the hall was bustling with an impressive crowd.
A server escorted Stella to the Williams family's VIP table.
Given Joshua's unexpected arrival in Solmaris, Stella had asked Violet Yancey to take the loose-lipped Israel Williams away for a while.

The same rotation blaming Stella trying to get her destroyed. Isn't the writer tired of writing the same foolishness overand over again? This is exhausting....
Can’t wait to see what joshua will do...
Why would the author of this book do that to Stella? Such cruelty!...
So many chapters are incomplete. Missing pages. Hard to get continuity...
