The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 220

Ch 220

Anthony

He drove down the road as directed by the gate guard and saw the building come into view. It didn’t look anything like a packhouse, more like a human world office building, that confused him. 95% of packhouses looked like large hotels, to blend into the human world.

This wasn’t that at all, but then he saw the Hummer out the front of the building and felt annoyance roll through him as he read the number plate and realized it wasn’t this Alpha’s, but belonged to Alpha Nicholas. Why was that man here today of all days? He didn’t want to see him, their alliance was over.

Then, as he stepped out of his car, he saw Nicholas and Jeremy walk from the packhouse and just knew that Alpha’s entire unit was going to be there. He’d often just travel with Jeremy, but since gaining his Luna, who was more than capable of looking after the pack all by herself; considered a Warrior Luna. Nick traveled more with his whole unit now than he had in the past.

He didn’t like the greeting he got, and he felt Shade finally wake up inside his mind at the foreboding Anthony was feeling from all that he was seeing. This was clearly Mischa’s plan to have Nicholas force him to accept her rejection so she could move on with this new Alpha, Declan.

He didn’t like the way Jeremy fell into step behind him either, only to have Nick’s full unit step up once they were in that building as well. He understood what this was, a show of Nick’s power that he was allied to this pack and likely was their strongest war assisting allied Alpha. It was likely a deal had been struck between Nick and this Alpha Declan solely because Mischa was here.

But it wasn’t until he saw that smug look on Nicksface when he started talking about his own unit, and what was going on between himself, Kendrick and Defeck, did Anthony understand that this man had severed ties with him, but still had loyal wolves to him living inside Night Whispers and were reporting back to him.

This was one of the very reasons you didn’t offend an allied Alpha and have them turn into your enemy. They could still get all the information on the pack, and know everything, so when and if they wanted to attack you they could. And not only from the outside, depending on what had gone down between the two packs, of course.

It could see those wolves that had mated into your pack from the allied, turned enemy, become enemies from within, and when the fight or battle happened. You were attacked from outside and inside the pack, surrounded by your own wolves that you thought were loyal, but were in fact going to realign themselves back to their old Alpha.

But stayed inside your pack to help with Intel and then the battle when it came. That’s why one did not make enemies of allied packs, became acquaintances, tried to separate amicably. This was what Christy didn’t understand, and now he was seeing it in full, the real threat that came with becoming an enemy of Nicholas.

He knew himself that every shewolf from the Rising Blue Lotus, regardless of rank, was welltrained and could fight, even the omegas could not only defend themselves, but deal out a great deal of damage. He also had 20 or so male warriors from the Rising Blue Lotus who’d moved to their pack over the years.

When he thought about it, there were likely to be 60 or 70 of Nick’s former wolves inside Night Whispers, and none of them had defected back to their home pack after the alliance had been severed, and he

understood that now; as Nick was keeping them there, in case he needed them for battle.

Half of them would be in the packhouse with the Luna if he had one in there. The other half would be out on the battlefront; none could win against something like that. Nick would, he knew, just have those in the packhouse take Christy out in full, weakening him midbattle and it would be all over. Only now did he truly realize why others feared Alpha Nicholas so much.

That man had saved that pack from a reign of tyranny and, no matter where his wolves went, they were still loyal to him if need be because he’d saved them all. They said he showed no mercy upon anyone attacking his pack and this was how he did it. He’d been warned about aligning himself with one such as Alpha Nicholas, told loyalty above all or suffer the consequences.

His thoughts stopped as they entered the Alpha’s Office and Nicholas addressed the leadership in this room as if they were the reigning pair. It ticked him off, because Mischa might be pregnant to this Alpha, but she wasn’t his Mate, couldn’t be, simply because she was his Mate.

They might not be together, but she still bore his Mark, then Nicholas stepped aside for him to see the leadership, and he stopped walking, as his eyes landed on the Alpha at that desk. He saw the size of him and understood what his bloodline was in and instant, something he’d not picked up; the pure blood, because Nicholas was right in front of him and he was a pureblood himself.

This Anthony understood had been set up on purpose, so he would miss it until this very moment. Nicholas wasn’t here to force his hand in accepting Mischa’s rejection. He was here to bear witness to it, was all. That Aipha at his desk didn’t need any help, he was pureblooded.

Anthony’s jaw tightened as Alpha Declan smiled at him, and he understood the emails demand now too. This Alpha was the top of the food chain, above Anthony himself. He wasn’t going to be able to out muscle Declan, which meant he was going to be leaving this pack today without Mischa. He was here to accept a rejection and leave or be made to and ejected.

Two full Alpha Units stood in this room, and he had no one right now. His eyes moved from the Alpha to the unit, and he blinked at seeing Paul standing there in the seat of Gamma to the pack, so she’d not only taken her omega but her actual Gamma was here with her as well. Still loyal to Mischa.

Paul stared right at him but said nothing, only looked to his neck, checked his mark to see if he was still bound to Christy, which he was, and then he simply shook his head. His eyes moved back along the group to Mischa and the Luna’s Unit all lined up. She stood there next to Declan, as if she was already his Luna.

Every one of those shewolves was pregnant and Carol stood right there, and although she looked at him, she didn’t seem to care at all that he was her former Alpha; she was dismissive in her look. His attention was drawn back to Alpha Declan as he stood up and he got a good look at the man.

He was easily the same build as Nicholas and wearing clothes that showed him just how strong he was as well. He saw a flicker of deep red behind the man’s brown eyes as his beast spoke to him about something. Then it was gone, likely just his beast wanting to add a little warning and show the color of his eyes to Anthony.

Then Decları spoke right to him words that had a hard edge to them, Took you long enough to come for your Luna. A month!Declan stated, as if he thought it was inconceivable that an Alpha would leave his Luna out there for that long and not even so much as hunt for her.

Unfortunately for you, you’ll be leaving here today without her,Declan stated before he turned and smiled down at Mischa, and Anthony felt anger flare in him as he saw the gentleness of this Alpha’s gaze upon

her. She’s my Luna now, seeing as you abandoned her.” Declan voiced even though his eyes were on Mischa, as if she was just that, belonged to him and not Anthony.

She is my Mate and until a rejection happens keep your hands off her.Anthony bit out as he realized this Alpha was likely about to touch her right in front of him.

A light chuckle rolled out of Declan into this office, as if he was amused by those very words and didn’t care about her belonging to another. Hem, a bit late for that.Decian stated his hand reaching out towards Mischa’s belly, and Anthony saw it, the slight distension of her abdomen.

She was already showing, and he felt pain touch not only himself but Shade as well. He’d never actually wanted to believe she was with this Alpha’s pup.

He’d not been hit with pains of betrayal all week long, and no wolf wasn’t going to be touching the belly of the shewolf carrying their pup, they were maternal creatures, and it was almost instinctual to touch their pregnant Mate. He also knew a wolf touching her like that. He would feel it, but there had been nothing, and he’d convinced himself she’d said it just to annoy him, tick him off and make him feel regret, to come for her.

Anthony watched as Declan not only slid his hand over her belly, but he caressed it lovingly. She’s already carrying my pup and heir to the pack,Declan told him, practically purred the words out.
